In a graft case, Court awarded 7 years’ imprisonment to Peshkar, also slapped fine of Rs 50,000 on him

The Vigilance Court, Nainital has awarded sentence of seven years and Rs 50000 fine to Daya Sugar Aryan, clerk, Peshkar, SDM, Kashipur in which a
vigilance team had arrested him on May 14, 2013 on charge of taking a bribe of Rs 20, 000 from a complainant named Prem Singh, resident of Kashipur at his office.
Accused Arya had allegedly sought the bribe from the complainant against completing land related works.

In his written complaint lodged with the vigilance Haldwani Sector, complainant stated that Arya had sought money of Rs 20,000 for putting up the land related issues before SDM. The complainant had meanwhile approached SP, Haldwnai sector vigilance and registered a compliant over the same on May 10, 2013.

Acting on the complaint, a team was formed. The vigilance team members drafted a plan to trap them. Peshkar Aryan was caught red- handed while taking Rs 20, 000 as bribe from the complainant on May 14, 2013. A case under appropriate sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was earlier subsequently registered against the accused. Court on Tuesday awarded sentence to the accused.

Director vigilance Ram Singh Meena announced reward of Rs 10, 000 to the team members for strongly presenting the case in court.
