The Dusshera celebrations near railway tracks in city shows that the Ludhiana Administration is also waiting for tragedy like Amritsar which happened on October 19, 2018 in which more than sixty people have lost their lives. As similarly to Amritsar, Dusshera festival was celebrated close to railway tracks in Dhuri line area and Miller Ganj on October 19 eve. Luckily, the large number of Ludhiana residents remained lucky as they witnessed Dusshera celebrations safely but endangering their lives. Unluckily, in Amritsar more than 60 people were crushed under the train when they were witnessing the burning of Ravana’s effigy on Friday evening.This was not for the first time that Dusshera was celebrated near the railway tracks in Ludhiana. The Azad Dusshera committee, which organisedMela on the occasion of Dusshera near Dhuri Railway lines, said that they are organisng the Mela from last 45 years and with permission of administration.The photos of Dusshera celebrations show that train passed from the railway tracks and the huge gathering was standing close to railway tracks. Luckily, the train was on slow speed and celebrations were held before the dark which avoided any tragedy.
The members of Azad DusherraCommittee, Dhuri lines said that they obtained required permission from administration. Moreover, the administration deployed cops on the venue. The organizers claimed that they use to install barricades along the railway tracks and inform gateman at nearest railway crossing.Apart from Dhuri lines, the Dusshera celebrations were organised near the railway tracks in Miller Ganj area behind Manju cinema. Here also, the large number of migrants celebrates festival near the railway tracks by endangering their lives.On Saturday, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has announced that district magistrate’s will issue permission after checking the venues. Moreover, the Government will form policy for issuing permissions for holding religious and other functions.
