Police on Friday arrested two drug peddlers, including a Tanzanian student, after 45g of heroin was recovered from him near Libra village Libra on GT road in Khanna. The accused have been identified as 24-year-old Daniel Lukks Mitwewe of Tanzania, who is a third-year student of Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) at Mullana University, and 22-year-old Gaurav Kumar of village Mullana in Ambala District. Gaurav is a driver by profession. Police officer said that a team of Khanna police was checking suspicious vehicles and persons at a check post near Masjid of village Libra on GT Road in Khanna.
He said that during the checking, the police party saw a Maruti Swift Dzire Car and signaled its driver to stop the vehicle but he sped away. However, the police chased and stopped the car at forward barricades. They added that after the persons in the car identified themselves, police asked them to get themselves searched.
He said that during frisking, the police recovered 45 grams of heroin from Daniel’s possession. He added that the accused were booked under various sections of the NDPS Act at Sadar Khanna police station and were arrested.
