Artists of Theatre Arts Chandigarh successfully staged their play Lottery on 3rd day of Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Academy Theater Festival held at Bal Bhawan, Navrang Auditorium. The play Lottery was based upon Munshi Prem Chand Classic story Lottery and it was directed by well-known Theatre Artist Yogesh Arora.
The play depicts the era when first time Lottery was introduced in India and it was an instant craze with the people. The whole people of village Madhopur go crazy to buy lottery ticket, similarly the whole family of the Thakur Mahinder Partap Singh also buy Lottery tickets individually. The joint family of Thakur who had very good relations earlier starts quarreling with each on the issue of prize money of Lottery.

Everyone in the family starts performing different kind of Poojas. Yagnas and other rituals and customs to get prize money. Ultimately the D-day arrives and the result of the lottery bumper is announced. To their great surprise the First prize is won by citizen of American. Everyone in the family is disappointed but they learn a lesson that all of them were quarreling with each other for the money which never belonged to them. The play depicts the human nature of becoming rich over rightly and the sudden change in behavior of human being when he receives a big chuck of money.

The artists performing in the play includes several top most artists of Chandigarh like Ramesh Bhardwaj Tejbhan Gandhi, Yogesh Arora, Sachin Sharma, Munish Kapoor, Yogesh Kumar, Rajiv Mehta, Priyanka, Malkiat Singh, Amit Kumar, Love Preet Singh, Sunny Sandhu, Malkit Singh, Nirjara. Lights and sets were designed by Gaurav Sharma, background music was provided by Gaurav Sharma and Malkit Singh, Production by Amit Kumar.
