The interdisciplinary researches should be focused on sustainable development in rural areas through maintaining the linkage among forest, agriculture, animal husbandry to contribute in economic growth and protection of environment, stated Dr. RK Maikhuri, in-charge, GB Pant National Institute for Himalayan Environment and Sustainable Development, Srinagar [Garhwal] Unit.
Dr. Maikhuri was speaking in the inaugural session of one week national workshop on Research Methodology organized by Faculty Development Centre under PMMMNMTT scheme of MHRD, Govt. of India at HNB Garhwal University Srinagar [Garhwal] Uttatakhand today at the Academic Activity Centre Chauras Campus. The workshop is being attended by 45 teacher participants of eight different universities from across the country.
Dr. Maikhuri further stated that researches and publications in social sciences without citation have no value.
Prof. Vasudha Pande, University of Delhi, and the chief Guest of session emphasized the need of consulting the available literature in different languages for quality research to be acceptable at global level especially if research is being carried out on regional and interdisciplinary issues. Apart from, the dedication, discipline and passion; and appropriate ethics are required for quality research.`
While deliberating upon the objectives of the workshop, Prof. Indoo Pandey Khanduri, the Director Faculty Development, said that methodologies for interdisciplinary research is the need of the hour as researches now a days are not limited to the academic exercise rather need to contribute to social issues in terms of addressing the problems and creation of better society through economic growth and positive environment.
Prof. Geeta Pant Joshi, the chairperson of the session, emphasized the need of applied researches as changing needs of the society, and it requires upgraded research methodologies. The session was coordinated by Dr. Kavita Bhatt and vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Vijay Prakash.
