On the New Year, the state government has given a gift to all the Urban Local Bodies. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that government will not allow the paucity of the funds for the local bodies. He said that the state government is committed to the development of local bodies. Every possible effort will be made by the government to strengthen the urban local bodies. In this series, a total of Rs 186 crore 32 lakh 84 thousand have been released for the quarterly installment (final installment) for the Financial Year 2018-19.
According to the decisions taken by the Government on the recommendations of the Fourth State Finance Commission recommendations, for all the urban local bodies (Municipal Corporation, Nagar Palika Parishad and Nagar Panchayat), the government order for releasing the fourth quarter installment of Rs 186 crore 32 lakh 84 thousand for the financial year 2018-19 has been issued by Finance Secretary Mr. Amit Negi. Under this, an amount of Rs 65 crore 66 lakh 60 thousand has been released for 08 Municipal Corporations including 2 Corporation of Rishikesh and Kotdwar. A total of Rs 65 crore 32 lakh 35 thousand have been released for Nagar Palika Parishad. An amount of Rs 11 crore 25 lakh 35 thousand has been released to the Nagar Panchayats. All the 13 district panchayats of the state have been disbursed a total amount of Rs 42 crores 64 lakh 86 thousand.
From the amount released to Municipal Corporation, Nagar Palika Parishad and Nagar Panchayat, payment for path prakash, Jal Sansthan, salary and allowances of employees, clearance of claims of retired employees and payment for development works will be made. From the amount released to the district panchayats, moey will be utilized on sewerage and solid waste management, septage management, drainage and sanitation, maintainence of community assets, street lights, construction of Anganwadi buildings, construction of additional class rooms, salary, allowances and development works.
