To mark the Mahavir Jayanti and golden jubilee of Shri Digambar Jain Mandir, a five day long camp for free distribution of artificial limbs will be organized from April 17 at Shri Digambar Jain Mandir, Sector 27, Chandigarh.
While addressing a press conference today at temple premises, President Ajay Jain and General Secretary Sant Kumar Jain said, camp will be conducted under the aegis of world famous ‘Jaipur Foot’s recognized organization ‘Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayta Samiti and their chief patron Padamshree DR Mehta. This samiti is the world’s largest organization for the handicapped in terms of free fitment of artificial limbs/calipers etc. Mehta is a recipient of Padma Bhushan, one of the highest Indian civilian awards, for his contribution to social cause.
“We are geared up for serving the patients which are coming from every nook and corner of the region. They will be provided with free food and lodging during camp. Management has approached to the Offices of Red Cross Society and Director, Health Services for the states of Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh for accommodating their referrals. We are anticipating to cater the needs of around 400 patients” said Sant Kumar Jain, General Secretary.
