Haryana Police rescues 722 child labourers and 405 Beggars under “Operation Smile”: Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij

Haryana Home Minister Sh. Anil Vij said that “Operation Smile” was conducted by the Haryana Police from April 1 to April 30, 2023, under which 722 child labourers and 405 beggars were rescued. In addition, 880 missing children and 819 missing adults were traced and visited 489 shelters and children’s homes during this period.Divulging more details in this regard, Home Minister Sh. Anil Vij said that 178 missing children and 63 adults were traced in Gurgaon by District Police and Anti Human Trafficking Unit, while 11 beggars and 71 child labourers were rescued after visiting 19 shelters and children’s homes. He informed that 153 missing children and 83 adults were traced in Faridabad, while 87 shelters and children’s homes were visited and 80 beggars and 63 child labourers were rescued.He said that 71 missing children and 16 adults were traced in Kurukshetra, while 39 beggars and 57 child labourers were rescued after visiting 21 shelters and children’s homes. He said that the GRP traced 53 missing children while 1 beggar was rescued after visiting 17 shelters and children’s homes. Similarly, 50 missing children and 51 adults were traced in Bhiwani while 10 shelters and children’s homes were visited and 32 beggars and 7 child labourers were rescued. Similarly, 44 missing children and 81 adults were traced in Panipat while 11 shelters and children’s homes were visited and 7 beggars and 56 child labourers were rescued.Sh. Vij said that 39 missing children and 38 adults were traced in Rewari, while 19 shelters and children’s homes were visited and 6 beggars and 25 child labourers were rescued. He said that 26 missing children and 27 adults were traced in Jhajjar, while 17 shelters and children’s homes were visited and 6 beggars and 8 child labourers were rescued. In Mahendergarh, 21 missing children and 28 adults were traced, while 3 beggars and 13 child labourers were rescued after visiting 6 shelters and child homes. In Karnal, 23 missing children and 70 adults were traced, while 7 shelters and children’s homes were visited and 8 beggars and 30 child labourers were rescued.The Home Minister said that 21 missing children and 23 adults were traced in Ambala, while 65 shelters and children’s homes were visited and 23 beggars and 34 child labourers were rescued. In Fatehabad, 25 missing children and 18 adults were traced while 37 shelters and child homes were visited and 24 child labourers were rescued. Similarly, 28 missing children and 42 adults were traced in Yamuna Nagar, while 29 beggars and 28 child labourers were rescued after visiting 10 shelters and children’s homes. In Hisar, 21 missing children and 28 adults were traced, while 15 beggars and 18 child labourers were rescued after visiting 26 shelters and children’s homes. In Hansi, 15 missing children and 14 adults were traced, while 5 beggars and 8 child labourers were rescued after visiting 6 shelters and children’s homes.He informed that 24 missing children and 32 adults were traced in Panchkula while 25 beggars and 23 child labourers were rescued after visiting 30 shelters and children homes. He said that 14 missing children and 59 adults were traced in Rohtak, while 13 shelters and children’s homes were visited and 11 beggars and 15 child labourers were rescued. He said that 15 missing children and 25 adults were traced in Sonipat, while 7 shelters and children’s homes were visited and 7 beggars and 14 child labourers were rescued. Similarly, traced 9 missing children and 19 adults in Charkhi-Dadri, while 30 beggars and 12 child labourers were rescued after visiting 29 shelters and child homes.Sh. Vij said that 10 missing children and 36 adults were traced in Sirsa, while 23 beggars and 23 child labourers were rescued after visiting 11 shelters and children’s homes. In Mewat, 9 missing children and 7 adults were traced, while 13 shelters and children’s homes were visited and 4 beggars and 33 child labourers were rescued. Traced 10 missing children and 22 adults in Jind while 24 beggars and 18 child labourers were rescued after visiting 6 shelters and children’s homes. In Palwal, 14 missing children and 19 adults were traced, while 14 shelters and children’s homes were visited and 4 beggars and 92 child labourers were rescued. Similarly, 7 missing children and 18 adults were traced in Kaithal while 12 beggars and 50 child labourers were rescued after visiting 8 shelters and child homes.He said that under “Operation Smile” work is being carried out to reunite the separated with their loved ones. Apart from this, he appealed to the people of the state that they should not take labour work from child labourers and inform the police about such child labourers and beggars in the development of the country and the state so that they can be given shelter in shelter homes and integrated with the main stream of the society.
