          Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa on Tuesday held a review meeting with top officials of the department at his office. He directed that all ongoing projects aimed at supplying clean and pure water to villages should be completed on time.

          Jimpa said that the government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is dedicatedly working towards making the state ‘Rangla Punjab.’ For this purpose, all necessary facilities should be prioritized for villages.

          He urged the swift progress of ongoing canal water projects across various areas of Punjab. Jimpa highlighted that the groundwater in many state villages is non-potable, and some are situated in the Kandi area. Consequently, water supply will be facilitated by purifying canal water through treatment plants in these villages.

          Jimpa said that he will personally inspect the under constructed projects to assess the ground situation. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is set to dedicate the nearing completion projects to the people of Punjab.

          Furthermore, Jimpa inquired about the status of water testing labs, water sampling and other issues affecting the public. The Minister also reviewed the status of No Objection Certificates (NOCs), which are required for the ongoing projects.

          The meeting was attended by HoD Harpreet Sudan, J.J. Goyal, Chief Engineer (PDQA), R. K. Khosla, Chief Engineer (Central), J.S. Chahal, Chief Engineer (South), Jasbir Singh, Chief Engineer (North) and other department officers.

          Trials for the selection of Malkhamb teams of Punjab for the Khel India Youth Games will be held on 3rd January and trial for Volleyball on 5th January at 11 am. The 6th Khel India Youth Games will be held from 19th to 31st January 2024 in Tamil Nadu.

          The spokesman of the sports department said that trials for the selection of Malkhamb (Boys and Girls) will be held at Saffron Public School Phagwara on 3rd January at 11 am and Volleyball (Girls) at Sports Complex, Sector 63 SAS Nagar on 5th January at 11 am.

          The spokesperson further said that the players wishing to participate in the trials should have a date of birth on or after January 1, 2005.

Union Minister of State Sh. Krishan Pal Gurjar said that the government is committed to improve the lives of the poor and marginalised.

Minister of State for Power and Heavy Industries Sh. Krishan Pal Gurjar, participated in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in Faridabad on Tuesday. 

He praised the Haryana government’s “Antyodaya” scheme, which aims to uplift the poorest of the poor and said that the government has implemented a number of Schemes to help the poor, including the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, which provides upto Rs 5 lakh free healthcare to poor families annually, 11 crore women have been given free gas connections and the work of providing free food grains to crores of people.

“The more schemes the government creates for the poor, the happier society will be,” said Sh.Gurjar.

He said that the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is proving to be efficient in reaching out the welfare scheme of the government to the last person in the society through this public is getting information about the schemes, ration cards are being made for the eligible people on the spot, correction in the Parivar Pehchan Patra, health check-up at the stall of the health department etc. are being given.  

At the event, Sh. Gurjar also distributed gas cylinders and stoves to beneficiaries, and he interacted with people and heard their concerns.

He also called on people to work together to make India a self-reliant and developed nation by 2047 and also inspected the stalls at the Yatra and a presentation was also screened by the Bhajan Party of the Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture Department to spread awareness about the welfare schemes of the government among the public.

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala, has stated that during the four years of the present government’s tenure, new dimensions of development have been established in every sector of the state. Due to the far-reaching and development-oriented policies of the state government, Haryana is now at the forefront of renewable energy nationwide and has attracted investors as the first choice in industrial development among top three states in the country.

Sh. Dushyant Chautala said this while interacting with media on Tuesday after hearing public grievances in Uchana, Jind district. He emphasized that despite the challenges posed during the COVID pandemic and prolonged farmer protests, the investment of Rs. 38,000 crores in the state during this period could be considered a significant achievement for the government. He highlighted that the government has taken new steps to accelerate industrial development in the state, including inviting applications through the e-Bhoomi portal and the HSIIDC for establishing industrial units at 9 locations.

The Deputy Chief Minister expressed satisfaction that applications have been received from farmers to provide 550 acres of land to the government in the villages of Khatkad and Uchana in the near future for establishing industrial units. He stated that the process of establishing industrial units by the HSIIDC in this area will be initiated, and after their establishment, avenues of employment will be open for the youth of the state. He said that the recent launch of the Padma Yojana by the state government, which aims to establish public and private units in various districts, including Jind, Rewari, Palwal, and others, giving a new dimension to industrial development.

Sh. Dushyant Chautala further informed that applications have been invited for 200 acres each through e-Bhoomi for establishing pilot training operator centres in Mewat and Jind districts along the Delhi-Katra National Highway. Once the applications are received, proposals for setting up pilot training operator centres will be prepared.

He further stated that the ongoing Haryana and nationwide protests against the hit and run law. Deputy CM urged the public to stay away from misinformation and clarified that the law has been implemented under two different provisions, in which separate instructions will be applicable towards the occurrence of an accidental incident and helping the injured person, while separate rules will be ensured for the driver who runs away after causing an accident to a person.

He assured that there would be no disruption in the supply of diesel and petrol due to the strike, directing the Food, Civil Supplies Department Director to issue written orders to petrol pump owners in all 22 districts to ensure adequate storage and timely supply of oil. During this period, necessary action will be taken by the department regarding any petrol supply vehicle driver participating in the strike. Sh. Dushyant Chautala highlighted that the ongoing development schemes in the state are also benefiting the people of the Uchana Assembly constituency at large extent.

Haryana Government has decided to implement 12 new projects worth more than Rs. 50 crore under Rural Augmentation & Urban Water, Sewerage and Storm Water-State Plan in 6 districts namely Gurugram, Sonipat, Rohtak, Rewari, Jhajjar, and Mahendragarh. 

Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal today accorded administrative approval for these projects to be implemented by the Public Health Engineering Department here today. 

Giving more information in this regard, an official spokesperson said that new works under Urban Water, Sewerage and Storm Water-State Plan include laying of balance distribution pipe line, replacement of existing AC damaged pipe line and repair of existing Connections, in various streets of Jhajjar Town at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.91 crore, Laying of DI Pipe line in Balance area of Narnaul Town Distt. Mahendragarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 24.37 lakh, Laying of sewer line in balance approved area of bawal town, District Rewari at an estimated cost of Rs. 16.53 crore, Supply of Power Bucket Type Sewer cleaning machine, & Supply of Metal Detector machine for searching of unseened manhole cover on Highways and Town areas sewer line in Meham Town Distt. Rohtak at an estimated cost of Rs. 20.69 lakh, Supply of combined high-pressure jetting cum suction (Vacuum) type Hydraulically Operated Sewer Cleaning Machine (10000 Ltrs.) for Meham Town Distt. Rohtak at an estimated cost of Rs. 46.48 lakh, Supply of Power Bucket Type Sewer cleaning machine in Sampla Town Distt. Rohtak at an estimated cost of Rs. 18.08 lakh, Estimate for 1 supply of combined high pressure jetting cum suction (Vacuum) type Hydraulically Operated Sewer Cleaning Machine (10000 Ltrs.) for Sampla Town Distt. Rohtak at an estimated cost of Rs. 46.48 lakh, Construction of new sewage treatment plant of 6 MLD capacity based on SBR Technology at the site of old existing STP in Sohna Town under PHED Sohna, Distt. Gurugram at an estimated cost of Rs. 6.94 crore, Estimate for Special Repair/ Strengthening using CIPP liner of Storm Water line on Gohana Road near Radha Soami Ashram, Rohtak Town at an estimated cost of Rs. 4.79 crore.

The spokesperson further informed regarding the works which were given administrative sanction under Rural Augmentation Water Supply Programme which include Renovation and upgradation of independent water works for 2 villages Ashrafpur Matindu and Chhinoli, construction of new booster at Chhinoli, replacement of old demaged and undersized PVC and AC pipelines, shifting of functional household tap connection in 02 villages Ashrafpur Matindu and Chhinoli, District Sonipat at the cost of Rs. 5.47 crore, Renovation and upgradation of water works Mandora, construction of boosting station villages Mandora and distribution pipe line in balance street in village Mandora and Mandori, District Sonipat at the cost of Rs. 5.60 crore, Augmentation of water supply scheme Sisana-I by providing raw water through pumping, laying rising main line, construction of 1.00 MLD WTP at water works and laying the distribution pipe line in village Sisana-I and II, District Sonipat at an estimated cost of Rs. 6.16 crore.

Haryana Chief Secretary, Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal said that that the state government has awarded contracts valued at approximately Rs. 126 crore for processing an additional 15 lakh metric tonnes of legacy waste at Bandhwari. An action plan has been prepared to achieve this target by June 2024.

Presiding over a meeting to assess waste disposal progress in Gurugram and Faridabad, Mr. Kaushal directed the officers of Pollution Control Board to take strict action against agencies and officials failing to address leachate waste management at the Bandhwari site. He emphasized decisive action, including penalties and fines, against those responsible for waste management and disposal tasks in landfills at Gurugram and Faridabad. Any delays in processing or disposal will not be tolerated, he warned.

Mr. Kaushal reviewed the development of the Mujheri site, progress on installing trammels, and ongoing works at Partapgarh landfill site. He directed the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Faridabad to complete development at Mujheri and install trammels by January end, and to commence operations at Partapgarh site by mid-February 2024.

It was apprised in the meeting that Gurugram and Faridabad generate about 1200 TPD and 1000 TPD of fresh waste, respectively. Both Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) and Municipal Corporation, Faridabad (MCF) conduct regular awareness programs on waste segregation and monitor daily compliance. MCG has achieved 47% segregation and MCF has reached 44%, with efforts ongoing to improve. Municipal Corporation, Gurugram has started decentralized fresh waste processing at five locations: Beri Bagh, Badshahpur, Sector-44, Carterpuri, and Darbaripur. Additionally, three transfer stations at Beri Bagh, near Paras Hospital, and near Atul Kataria Chowk are operational for daily processing, additionally 390 Bulk Waste Generators (BWGs) process their waste on-site, contributing to a total of 396 TPD processed in Gurugram. Similarly, Municipal Corporation, Faridabad processes 140 TPD of fresh waste at decentralized locations, with 77 out of 275 BWGs processing their waste on-site. MCG has penalized 163 BWGs and MCF has penalized 70 for non-compliance with BWG norms under the SWM Rules, 2016.

Present in the meeting include Additional Chief Secretary, Forests and Environment, Mr. Vineet Garg, Commissioner and Secretary, Urban Local Bodies Department, Mr. Vikas Gupta. While Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Faridabad and Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Gurugram, Deputy Commissioner, Faridabad and Gurugarm virtually attended the meeting.

Haryana Government approves the construction of a new road on the land of the abandoned Kulasi Link Drain in Jhajjar District with an estimated cost of Rs. 9.97 crore. Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal gave administrative sanction for the construction of a new road project here today. 

Giving more information in this regard, an official spokesperson stated that the proposed road spans from RD 0.00 to 5.400 km is a crucial infrastructure project aimed at enhancing connectivity in the region.

The spokesperson informed that the proposed road, with a total length of 5.183 km, has been verified to connect seamlessly with the MDR-138 (Bahadurgarh-Nahra-Nahri Road) on one side and the (Sankhol-Barahi Road) on the other side. Additionally, the road intersects with the proposed Northern Bypass at approximately 1.00 km from Sankhol-Barahi Road.

He further said that the site was meticulously inspected by the Executive Engineer, Provincial Division PWD (B&R) Br. Bahadurgarh, along with the Sub-Divisional Engineer/Junior Engineer in charge and Junior Engineer from the Irrigation Department. The inspection, conducted in the presence of local villagers, confirmed that there is no encroachment on the land of the abandoned Kulasi Link Drain.

This infrastructure initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to enhancing connectivity, facilitating regional development, and ensuring the overall progress of Jhajjar District. The Haryana Government looks forward to the timely commencement and successful completion of this vital project, he added.

Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. B.R. Kamboj, has been honored with the prestigious M.S. Swaminathan Award. Thawar Chand Gehlot, the Governor of Karnataka, presented him with this award in recognition of his contributions as a scientist and extension specialist in the field of agronomy. The award ceremony took place at the International Conference on ‘One Health One World,’ held at Rajmata Vishwaraje Scindia Agricultural University in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

It may be mentioned here that a special committee constituted for the M.S. Swaminathan Award, selected Prof. B.R. Kamboj for his excellent achievements in the field of education, research, technology development and extension in agricultural science. 

Vice Chancellor, Prof. B.R. Kamboj has most experience in extension education during his entire service career. He is well aware of the common problems, needs and socio-economics conditions of the farmers. The agricultural recommendations put forth by Prof. Kamboj, stemming from his research work and collaborative extension activities with university scientists, have consistently proven to be highly advantageous for farmers.

Presently, Prof. B.R. Kamboj is serving as the 20th Vice Chancellor of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University. He has served this university for the last 29 years on various positions including Registrar. Prof. Kamboj has published about 300 research papers and articles in national and international journals, books and technical magazines.

Since his Joining as Vice Chancellor of CCSHAU, the university has made significant achievements in the fields of education and research. Apart from joining hands with several reputed foreign university and research institute, the university has developed new promising varieties of different crops and also sent its faculty and students to world renowned universities to get training in cutting edge techniques and technologies.

Haryana, having carved its own niche on the national and international sports stage, is set to enhance sports infrastructure across every village. This initiative aims to foster the athletic potential of young individuals from an early age. Chief Minister Sh Manohar Lal has directed the formulation of a comprehensive plan to establish specialized high power performance centers dedicated to training youth in specific sports based on regional preferences.

          These centers will provide exclusive training in a single sport, enabling youth to excel in their chosen discipline based on their interests. The objective is to empower the youth to bring pride and recognition to the state and the nation on the global sports arena.

The Chief Minister was presiding over a meeting with officials from the Sports Department to discuss the roadmap for developing new sports infrastructure in Haryana here today.

Sh Manohar Lal said that the state government is committed to strengthen the sports infrastructure across all regions. Recognizing the significance of providing training in sports popular within each area, he instructed the establishment of sports nurseries in villages based on the demand and preferences for specific sports to build a strong foundation for children from an early age.

He further directed the Sports Department and Panchayat Department to collaboratively map the sports infrastructure developed in villages. This comprehensive mapping will ensure that infrastructure is systematically developed in alignment with the specific needs of each area. In addition, he instructed the teams to compile and map the demands submitted by the public through Jan Samvad Portal, Gram Darshan, and Nagar Darshan Portal for facilities such as stadiums, mini stadiums, sports nurseries, or other institutions in their respective areas.

Medalists to give sports training to youth

The Chief Minister stressed the need to encourage medal-winning players employed under the Outstanding Sportsperson Policy to establish and operate sports nurseries, thereby fostering talented youth in their respective sports. He instructed the Sports Department to compile a comprehensive list of sportspersons, including both prominent and emerging athletes. Recognizing the challenges faced by players at smaller levels in accessing major tournaments, he affirmed the government’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for such players to progress and ensuring that no skilled athlete is overlooked. Special emphasis will be placed on providing training to these players based on their respective sports.

During the meeting, it was informed that detailed information on the state’s sports infrastructure has been uploaded to the GIS Haryana portal. Currently, 11 sports infrastructure projects are in progress at various stages of completion. The Chief Minister suggested utilizing sports infrastructure available in government colleges to optimize resources for the benefit of the Sports Department.

Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, who also oversees the Finance Department, lauded the significant rise in Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections by the Haryana Excise and Taxation Department. While India’s overall GST revenue for December 2023 hit Rs 1,64,822 crore, representing a 10.3% year-on-year increase, Haryana’s performance surpassed the national average. The state’s gross GST collection for December 2023 reached Rs 8,130 crore, a remarkable 22% jump compared to Rs 6,678 crore in December 2022.

This robust growth outstrips the national average significantly, highlighting the effectiveness of Haryana’s economic policies and tax administration. It’s noteworthy that neighboring states also experienced positive growth: Himachal Pradesh (5%), Punjab (8%), Delhi (16%), and Jammu and Kashmir (20%).

Increase in GST Collection Reflects Economic Progress

Sh. Manohar Lal  said that the department’s stellar performance in December, emphasizing its role in bolstering the state’s economic stability. He further said that the surge in GST collection not only mirrors Haryana’s economic advancement but also signifies promising prospects for its overall development. He expressed optimism for sustained growth, aiming to elevate Haryana’s economic and financial stature.

Achievement of Budget Target

Additionally, the Excise and Taxation Department has commendably realized 80% of the total budget target for the fiscal year 2023-24 within the initial three quarters, underscoring its efficiency. With a total budget estimate of Rs 57,931 crore for the year, the department had garnered Rs 46,349 crore by December 31, 2023, across various categories. It’s worth noting that Haryana consistently ranks among the top five states in GST collections and exhibited the highest growth rate among major states in November 2023.
