Cyber protection policies for academic institutions as well as countries are the need of the hour in this digital era. This was stated by Prof. P.K. Mishra, Senior Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT-BHU, and Former Vice-Chancellor of AKTU Lucknow & JUT Ranchi, as Chief Guest during the inaugural session of a week-long online Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Cyber Crime and Cyber Security, organized by the Mahamana Malaviya Teachers Training Centre (MMTTC), HNB Garhwal University today on May 15, 2025. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further emphasized that cybersecurity is the trending area globally, underscoring its relevance in all spheres of life and governance. Prof. Mishra discussed various forms of cyber threats, including cyber terrorism, cyber defamation, virtual lock, and cyber-sex crimes, and stressed the growing need for cyber protection software and institutional cyber policies to combat these dangers. He also discussed the significance of cyber security in view of the \u201cPanchsheel principles of the New Millennium\u201d.
Dr. Rahul Kunwar Singh, the officiating Director of the centre, MMTTC, emphasized the critical need for raising cybersecurity and cybercrime awareness in higher education institutions to uphold academic integrity and secure institutional data. He said that the program is aimed at equipping faculty members from across the country with vital knowledge and tools to address emerging threats in cyberspace. The event marked a significant step toward fostering cyber-awareness and building digital competence among academicians across the country.
Providing a comprehensive overview of the program, Dr. Sudhir Kumar Chaturvedi, Course Coordinator, highlighted that this one-week initiative has successfully drawn 149 faculty participants from 20 different states across India. He underlined the multidisciplinary relevance of the program in today\u2019s digitally connected academic and professional environment. The is covering a range of modules focusing on cyber law, digital safety practices, emerging threats, and institutional strategies for cyber hygiene and resilience.
