The procedure was led by&nbsp;<strong>Dr Sudhanshu Budakoty, Senior Consultant \u2013 Cardiology<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Fortis Hospital, Mohali<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>who opted for the advanced&nbsp;techniqueto ensure precision and safety. The patient was discharged in a stable condition within two days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Patient&nbsp;from&nbsp;Solan&nbsp;was already battling CKD&nbsp;from&nbsp;5 years and when he visited Fortis Hospital , he was presented with high creatinine levels, severe chest pain, breathlessness and coronary artery disease. He was at an extremely high risk for conventional angioplasty, which involves the use of contrast dye&nbsp;to visualize the blood vessels during the procedure&nbsp;and that has the chances of damaging the kidney function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whereas, the advanced&nbsp;ultra-low contrast technique combined with IVUS imaging is a minimally invasive approach that allows doctors to accurately diagnose and treat blockages. In this procedure, a very minimal contrast dye is used, thereby avoiding the risk of further kidney damage or dialysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Speaking about the procedure in the press conference, Dr Budakoty said,<\/strong>&nbsp;<em>\u201cThis patient had significant coronary artery disease, but being a CKD patient, conventional angioplasty posed a high risk of worsening his kidney function. Using IVUS, we could clearly assess the vessel size, lesion characteristics, stent placement and expansion, all while minimizing contrast use. This ensured an excellent outcome without compromising kidney health.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that advanced imaging modalities like&nbsp;IVUS and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) are routinely used at Fortis Mohali to treat high-risk cardiac patients who were earlier considered unfit for angioplasty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThese technologies help us achieve superior outcomes by guiding us through complex cases, even in patients with severe comorbidities like CKD.
