{"id":16622,"date":"2025-08-02T20:44:08","date_gmt":"2025-08-02T15:14:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indiaepost.com\/?p=16622"},"modified":"2025-08-02T21:08:25","modified_gmt":"2025-08-02T15:38:25","slug":"fortis-mohali-conducts-first-ever-national-operative-and-observership-conference-on-rezum-and-rirs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indiaepost.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/02\/fortis-mohali-conducts-first-ever-national-operative-and-observership-conference-on-rezum-and-rirs\/","title":{"rendered":"Fortis Mohali Conducts First-Ever National Operative and Observership Conference on Rezum and RIRS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Chandigarh, August 2, 2025<\/strong>: To spread awareness on the most advanced medical technologies for the treatment of prostate problems and enlarged prostate, also known as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), the first national operative and observership conference on&nbsp;<strong>Rezum and RIRS, \u201cSteam and Stone,\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;being organised by&nbsp;<strong>Fortis Hospital Mohali<\/strong>, commenced at Hotel Taj here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two-day event has been organised following efforts by&nbsp;<strong>Dr. Rohit Dadhwal, Consultant &#8211; Urology, Andrology and Robotic Surgery.<\/strong>&nbsp;Nearly 100 renowned urologists from across the country, surgeons and other medical professionals are taking part in the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Giving information,&nbsp;<strong>Dr. Rohit Dadhwal<\/strong>, said,&nbsp;<em>\u201cThe workshop aims to spread awareness on Water Vapor Therapy (<strong>Rezum<\/strong>) \u2013 the latest form of minimal invasive surgical treatment for Prostate \u2013 available at Fortis Hospital Mohali.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said, \u201c<em>Water vapor therapy (Rez\u016bm) is a painless day-care procedure that is offered to patients who are at high risk or are young&nbsp;and to want&nbsp;to preserve their fertility. The long-term effects are the same as those of a traditional procedure. The procedure itself doesn\u2019t require any cutting of the Prostate tissue, hence there is no bleeding, and there is no pain. The procedure is conducted under local anesthesia and the patient is kept under observation for one hour.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe title=\"abc 2 1\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2MLiySPU2PQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr Dadhwal<\/strong>&nbsp;further, added,&nbsp;<em>\u201cSince BPH (enlarge&nbsp;prostrate) occurs in old age, most of the patients have cardiac and other comorbidities. In such cases like these, patients are on blood-thinning medications, which may lead to high chances of bleeding during the procedure, also multiple diseases and old age increases the peri and post-operative risk. For such patients, this procedure is a blessing.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cAlso, traditional prostate surgeries like TURP or Holep lead to sexual problems like ejaculatory and erectile dysfunction. For young symptomatic patients of BPH, who want to preserve their fertility, this is one of the few treatment options which offers such relief.&nbsp; Long-term data which is available now suggest that the effect of this therapy is the same as that of TURP, but it negates the need of anesthesia and admission,\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;he further added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Day-1 of the conference featured a series of live operative sessions, observership demonstrations and interactive panel discussions focused on Rezum therapy for benign prostatic hyperplasia and Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery (RIRS) for kidney stones. The attendees witnessed cutting-edge procedures, discussed clinical outcomes and gained insights into the latest technological innovations that are shaping patient-friendly urological care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shedding light on the event, he said,&nbsp;<em>\u201cModalities like water vapour therapy (Rezum), and Robot-aided Surgery are the future in prostate care.
