{"id":18687,"date":"2025-11-01T22:56:34","date_gmt":"2025-11-01T17:26:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indiaepost.com\/?p=18687"},"modified":"2025-11-01T22:56:34","modified_gmt":"2025-11-01T17:26:34","slug":"eight-months-of-yudh-nashian-virudh-over-34k-drug-smugglers-held-with-1512kg-heroin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indiaepost.com\/index.php\/2025\/11\/01\/eight-months-of-yudh-nashian-virudh-over-34k-drug-smugglers-held-with-1512kg-heroin\/","title":{"rendered":"EIGHT MONTHS OF YUDH NASHIAN VIRUDH: OVER 34K DRUG SMUGGLERS HELD WITH 1512KG HEROIN"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>CHANDIGARH, November 1:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; With the ongoing decisive war against drugs \u2018Yudh Nashian Virudh\u2019 launched on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has completed eight months, Punjab Police has registered 23,164 first information reports (FIRs) and arrested 34,727 drug smugglers leading to the recovery of 1512 kg heroin since March 1, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Since the launch of this anti-drug drive, Punjab Police, under the directions of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav, has been conducting operations daily simultaneously in all the 28 Police districts of the state. Notably, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann had asked the Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendent of Police to make Punjab drug free state. The Punjab government has also constituted a 5-member Cabinet Sub Committee led by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema to monitor the war against drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Apart from the recovery of 1512 kg haul of heroin, police have also seized 533 kg opium, 260 quintals poppy husk, 35 kg charas, 523 kg ganja, 15 kg ICE, 39 lakh intoxicant pills\/tablets, and \u20b913.45 crore drug money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; On Day 245, Punjab Police arrested 43 drug smugglers and recovered 4.6 kg heroin, 298 intoxicant pills and Rs 12,700 drug money from their possession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Over 100 Police teams, comprising over 80\/ police personnel, under the supervision of 45 gazetted officers have conducted raids at as many as 215 locations across the state leading to the registration of 39 first information reports (FIRs) across the state, he said, while adding that police teams have also checked as many as 228 suspicious persons during the day long operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Meanwhile, the state government has enforced a three-pronged strategy\u2014 Enforcement, Deaddiction and Prevention (EDP)\u2014 to eradicate drugs from the state, the Punjab Police as part of \u2018De-addiction\u2019 has convinced 22 persons to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CHANDIGARH, November 1: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; With the ongoing decisive war against drugs \u2018Yudh Nashian Virudh\u2019 launched on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has completed eight months, Punjab Police has registered 23,164 first information reports (FIRs) and arrested 34,727 drug smugglers leading to the recovery of 1512 kg heroin since March 1, 2025. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"footnotes":"","_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","enabled":false}}},"categories":[87],"tags":[],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.4 -
