74 th Republic Day, was celebrated in the Model Jail, Chandigarh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sh. Deepak Purohit, IPS, Inspector General of Prisons, U.T., Chandigarh was<\/p>\n\n\n\n
the Chief Guest of the occasion. He was accompanied by Dr. Palika Arora,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PCS, Addl. IG Prisons, UT Chandigarh, Sh. Amandeep Singh, Addl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Superintendent Jail, Sh. Parmod Khatri, DSJ, Sh. Parveen Kumar, DSJ, Sh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mukesh Goel, DSJ and Asstt. Commandant, CRPF. The programme started<\/p>\n\n\n\n
with the Guard of Honour. Hoisting of National Flag was followed by National<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anthem. Prisoners also sung Patriotic Song \u201cMera Rang De Basanti Chola\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
prepared by the prisoners. The whole environment filled with sprit of love for<\/p>\n\n\n\n
the Nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Inspector General of Prisons also addressed the gathering<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and stated that the Jail authorities are committed for the welfare and<\/p>\n\n\n\n
rehabilitation as per the law of the Nation. He motivated the inmates as well<\/p>\n\n\n\n
as the staff for the integration and development of the Nation. He<\/p>\n\n\n\n
announced that 60 days remission is being given to the inmates of Model<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jail, Chandigarh. The STD facility is being extended daily for 7 minutes. The<\/p>\n\n\n\n
proposal in this regard is being sent to the Chandigarh Administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Further, the wages of the inmates are proposed to be enhanced from Rs. 90,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
100 and 110 to Rs. 130,140 and 150 respectively on the recommendations<\/p>\n\n\n\n
of Wages Fixation Committee. Three convicts have been released on the<\/p>\n\n\n\n
occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav IInd phase on receipt of approval of<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Govt. of India, New Delhi and two other have been released after getting the<\/p>\n\n\n\n
remission by IG Prisons. He further added that he hope that inmates will<\/p>\n\n\n\n
maintain discipline and perform work for the betterment of jail. Before<\/p>\n\n\n\n
departure, the Chief Guest distributed the sweets amongst the prisoners and<\/p>\n\n\n\n
