This was expressed by the Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, here today.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cabinet Minister added,\u00a0 State government is continuously working to improve the nutrition and health status of pregnant women and lactating mothers.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 She told, Government gives Rs.5000\/- in three installments (Rs. 1000+2000+2000) to women aged 19 years and above on the birth of their first live child. Minister explained that under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana is given to pregnant women and lactating mothers to uplift their nutritional and health status subject to fulfillment of special conditions.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Minister highlighted,\u00a0 the Matru Vandana Yojana is a step towards ensuring that every pregnant woman gets adequate care during pregnancy and lactation. She said that this scheme is a mark of the commitment of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to ensure the well-being of mothers and children of the state.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dr. Baljit Kaur appealed to all the pregnant women of Punjab to take advantage of this scheme and ensure good care for themselves and their babies.
