The General Secretary of All India Congress Committee, former Union Minister, and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja has leveled serious allegations against the BJP government over the severe shortage of DAP fertilizer in Haryana. Kumari Selja said that due to the government’s policy negligence, farmers in the state are forced to suffer a double blow. 

In a statement released to the media, Kumari Selja has said the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had already warned that with China halting the supply of specialty fertilizers, the country would face a severe fertilizer crisis. But the BJP government did not take any concrete steps in time to resolve this crisis. Kumari Selja said that today, that situation has become a reality. In several districts of Haryana, including Sirsa, Fatehabad, Ambala, and Yamunanagar, the stock of DAP fertilizer has completely run out. Farmers are roaming in mandis and markets in search of fertilizer but are being forced to return empty-handed.

Kumari Selja said that first, floods destroyed the crops, and now, due to the lack of fertilizer, farmers are unable to even begin sowing. Instead of making farmers self-reliant, the BJP government has left them to suffer the blows of the market. For how long will the farmers remain victims of the BJP government’s mismanagement? Kumari Selja demanded that immediate supply of fertilizer be ensured, adequate stock be made available in districts, and strict action be taken against the officials responsible for the crisis.

Punjab’s Minister for Cultural Affairs, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of renowned music composer Janab Charanjit Ahuja.

In his condolence message, Sond said that with the passing away of Ahuja Sahib, an era of Punjabi music has come to an end. He added that Ahuja’s soulful and timeless compositions will continue to resonate for generations to come. “Charanjit Ahuja’s melodies were not only unique and soothing but also unforgettable. He played a pivotal role in taking many singers to great heights while himself remaining deeply grounded,” said the Minister.

Sond further stated that the void created by the departure of such a legendary musical personality can never be filled. “For music lovers, Charanjit Ahuja will remain alive in their hearts through his immortal tunes,” he added.

Extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, Sond prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to the family, relatives, and admirers of Ahuja to bear this irreparable loss.

Chandigarh, September 22 – Haryana’s Energy, Transport & Labour Minister Anil Vij said today that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Central Government has provided substantial relief to the people of India by simplifying the GST structure into just two primary slabs that is 5 percent and 18 percent.

He highlighted that citizens will receive an annual benefit of Rs. 2.5 lakh crore from this decision, which will continue year after year.

While interacting with media persons today, Vij explained that nearly 90 percent of goods previously taxed at the 28 percent slab have now been brought down to 18 percent, directly providing around 10 percent relief to consumers. Similarly, the 12 percent slab has been merged into 5 percent, giving the public an additional 7 percent benefit.

He added that while essential commodities are being made available at lower rates, health-hazardous and luxury items have been placed in a separate 40 percent slab.

Sh. Vij said that this reform comes at the start of the festive season, particularly ahead of Navratri, giving households significant financial relief while also boosting trade, increasing market demand, and encouraging the establishment of new industries and factories—creating fresh employment opportunities.

“Aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of making India a developed nation by 2047, this decision will propel us forward at bullet-train speed. I am confident that it will lead to a remarkable acceleration in the nation’s growth rate,” Vij said.

Chandigarh, September 21 – Haryana Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini visited the homes of martyred Lance Naik Narendra Singh Sindhu (28) in Roheda village, Kaithal district, and Naik Pankaj Rana (24) in Kalayat on Sunday to pay homage to their supreme sacrifice.

The Chief Minister met with the bereaved family members, consoled them, and offered heartfelt condolences. He also paid floral tributes to the portraits of both soldiers.

Brave soldier Narendra Singh Sindhu was martyred while fighting terrorists in Kulgaon. Despite being critically injured, he neutralized the terrorists, displaying exemplary courage. Naik Pankaj Rana, a dedicated soldier of the Indian Army, passed away on September 9 while undergoing treatment after a road accident. He had served with the 51st Engineering Regiment in the Drass sector of Srinagar for 11 years.

Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini said that both soldiers laid down their lives for the nation. He prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed souls and strength to the families to bear this irreparable loss.

Chandigarh, September 21 – In yet another significant move to support farmers, the Haryana government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, has announced an increase in the subsidy on certified wheat seeds. As part of its ongoing farmer-friendly initiatives and commitment to food security, the subsidy on certified wheat seeds will now be increased to Rs. 1075 per quintal this year, compared to Rs. 1000 per quintal last year.

These subsidized certified wheat seeds will be made available through sales counters of government agencies across the state, including HSDC, NSC, HAFED, HLRDL, IFFCO, KRIBHCO, NFL, and others. As per the decision of the state government, the cost of certified wheat will be Rs 3000 per quintal, which will be Rs 1200 per acre for the farmers for the upcoming sowing season. Although the selling price of certified wheat seed (Rs. 3,000 per quintal) has increased compared to last year’s selling price (Rs. 2,875 per quintal), this increased cost is due to the increase in the MSP of wheat by Rs. 150 per quintal and an additional incentive of Rs. 50 per quintal for seed-producing farmers. The state government has reduced the cost burden on farmers by increasing the subsidy from Rs. 1,000 per quintal to Rs. 1,075 per quintal.

This proactive measure will encourage timely sowing, promote the use of high-yielding and certified seed varieties, and ultimately lead to improved crop productivity and higher agricultural income.

In Haryana, wheat is cultivated on approximately 60–62 lakh acres. Each year, around 12–14 lakh quintals of certified wheat seed are sold, out of which approximately 5.5 lakh quintals are supplied through government agencies, with the remaining distributed by private seed producers.

Reaffirming its commitment to the farming community, the Haryana government continues to roll out farmer-centric schemes and subsidies to ensure the state maintains its leadership role in strengthening the nation’s food grain reserves.

In a swift and effective response to protect Punjab’s agrarian economy from the floods aftermath, the Punjab Government has successfully immunised over 1.75 lakh livestock against Haemorrhagic Septicaemia (HS) disease within a remarkably short span of just one week. The targeted inoculation drive, covering 713 villages across flood-affected districts, has helped avert a potential animal health crisis, informed S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian, Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries, Punjab.

Elaborating on the mass inoculation drive, S. Khudian revealed that the campaign, launched on September 14, is a crucial component of the state’s flood rehabilitation action plan, being implemented to safeguard the primary asset and livelihood of thousands of affected farmers by protecting their livestock from potential health crisis.

Directing the department officials and field staff to complete the inoculation drive by the end of this month, the Animal Husbandry Minister stated, “This critical immunisation drive is a protective shield for the livestock, which are the backbone of Punjab’s agrarian economy. Protecting the livestock is equivalent to securing the financial future of thousands of families affected by the recent floods.” Notably, the districts covered under this critical initiative include Amritsar, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Moga, Pathankot, Rupnagar and Tarn Taran.

Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh led Punjab Government’s multi-pronged animal relief action plan has made significant stride, with over 1,300 special camps set up in 713 flood-hit villages, delivering medical treatment to over 2.52 lakh animals, said S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian.

Underlining the proactive steps being taken to support livestock nutrition and health, Principal Secretary Animal Husbandry department Mr. Rahul Bhandari informed that Uromin Licks have been distributed in 428 villages and Mineral Mixture in 388 villages so far to strengthen livestock immunity.  Additionally, KMnO4 crystals have also been distributing the affected villages as a preventive measure to safeguard animal health.

Animal Husbandry department’s large-scale, door-to-door campaign was made possible by mobilising hundreds of veterinarians and field staff. Their relentless efforts ensured that help reached even the most remote, flood-affected areas, added Mr. Bhandari.

CHANDIGARH/BATALA, September 21:

          In a major breakthrough amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab in a joint operation with Batala Police, Central Agencies, and Nagaland Police arrested two key accused involved in Jugraj Singh alias Jugga murder case, from Kohima in Nagaland, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Sunday.

          Those arrested have been identified as Harmanpreet Singh alias Harman and his cousin Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, both resident of village Kaler in Batala.

          As per the information, some unidentified persons had shot dead Jugraj Singh alias Jugga, a resident of Cheema Khudi in Batala, at his village on September 9, 2025.

          DGP Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary investigation has revealed that this target killing was executed on the directions of foreign-based Gangsters Jaswinder Singh alias Manu Agwan, Mohammad Yasin Akhtar alias Jeeshan Akhtar, and Gopi Nawansheharia.

          The DGP said that the accused are being brought to Punjab after obtaining transit remand from the competent court in Nagaland.

          Sharing operation details, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) AGTF Promod Ban said that acting on reliable inputs, police teams from AGTF under the supervision of DSP AGTF Rajan Parminder in coordination with Batala Police, Central Agencies and Nagaland Police arrested both the accused persons from Hotel Broadway at New Market in Midland Colony, Kohima, Nagaland. Further investigations are ongoing in this case, he said.

          In this regard, a case FIR No. 165 dated 09.09.2025 had already been registered under sections 103, 61(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act at Police Station Shri Hargobindpura in Batala.

Chandigarh, September 21: Director General of Police (DGP) Haryana, Mr. Shatrujeet Kapur, held an important review meeting with Additional Director Generals of Police, Police Commissioners, Range Inspectors General, and other senior officers of the state at the Conference Hall of Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban. The meeting discussed in detail action against foreign nationals illegally residing in Haryana, moneylenders, criminals and miscreants, traffic management, and security arrangements for the upcoming festival season.

Strictness against Illegally Residing Foreigners

DGP Kapur stated that all officers must review cases related to illegally residing foreign nationals every week and ensure strict action is taken. He directed that a separate cell be constituted in every district for this purpose and instructed that immediate action be taken on received inputs. He further directed officers to send weekly reports on this matter to Police Headquarters.

Special Campaign against Moneylending

In the meeting, Mr. Kapur reviewed the ongoing intensive campaign against moneylenders. Police Commissioner of Sonipat, Mrs. Mamta Singh, informed that the police are receiving full cooperation from the public and that complaints are being acted upon promptly. DGP Kapur clarified that the main objective of this campaign is to help needy and poor people. He said—those moneylenders who exploit the helplessness of the poor, charge exorbitant interest, and even seize their property, will face strict action.

Zero Tolerance towards Criminals

DGP Kapur instructed that strict surveillance be maintained on criminals and anti-social elements. He directed Station House Officers (SHOs) to personally monitor such individuals, hear complaints against them themselves, and ensure strict action. He further emphasized that criminals should be categorized into different groups so that monitoring and action can be carried out more effectively.

Action on Traffic Management and Drunk Driving

Additional Director General of Police (Traffic & Highways), Mr. Hardeep Doon, informed that during a special campaign conducted from September 5 to 14, as many as 30,603 challans were issued. These included actions against drunk driving, noise pollution, and other traffic violations. Awareness campaigns were also conducted during this period. The DGP directed that accident-prone areas be identified and necessary road safety measures be taken there. Along with this, Mr. Kapur also instructed to spread awareness among the public about compliance with lane driving rules. He said that traffic police officers and personnel should explain to the public that vehicles must not be driven in the fast lane continuously, as the fast lane is meant only for overtaking.

Special Arrangements for the Festival Season

Keeping the festival season in mind, Mr. Kapur directed officers to further strengthen security arrangements. He said that in large fairs and temples where huge crowds gather, high-quality CCTV cameras must be installed to prevent accidents and criminal incidents. If the crowd exceeds the prescribed limit, entry must be controlled at the main gate itself. Special surveillance must also be maintained on suspicious and anti-social elements.

DGP Kapur made it clear that the primary objective of Haryana Police is to provide citizens with a safe and fear-free environment. He said that during this festival season, every police officer must act as a shield for the safety of the people.

CHANDIGARH, September 21:

          Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 204th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 374 locations on Sunday leading to the arrest of 89 drug smugglers after registration of 78 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 30,440 in 204 days.

          The raids have resulted in recovery of 4.5 kg heroin, 2.3 kg ganja, 1524 intoxicant tablets/capsules and Rs 59,810 drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers.

          Notably, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann has asked the Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendent of Police to make Punjab drug free state. The Punjab government has also constituted a 5-member Cabinet Sub Committee led by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema to monitor the war against drugs.

          Over 150 Police teams, comprising over 1100 police personnel, under the supervision of 79 gazetted officers have conducted 374 raids across the state. Police teams have also checked as many as 393 suspicious persons during the day-long operation.

          The state government has enforced a three-pronged strategy— Enforcement, Deaddiction and Prevention (EDP)— to eradicate drugs from the state, the Punjab Police as part of ‘De-addiction’ has convinced 48 persons to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment today.
