Big leap for Punjab’s dairy & agro economy as Bhagwant Mann Govt brings Cargill’s South Asia’s largest Rs 300 crore cattle feed plant into operation

CHANDIGARH, 28th February 2026:

In a major stride for Punjab’s dairy and agro economy, the Bhagwant Mann Government has brought into operation Cargill’s ₹300 crore cattle feed plant at Industrial Park, Wazirabad in Mandi Gobindgarh, the largest of its kind in South Asia. The commissioning of this mega facility marks a significant industrial achievement ahead of the Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit 2026 and reflects the growing faith of global investors in Punjab.

The state-of-the-art plant strengthens Punjab’s agro-industrial ecosystem, generates employment, and delivers direct benefits to farmers through improved milk yield and higher dairy productivity. The project underscores the Punjab Government’s firm resolve to accelerate industrial growth, deepen agri-processing capacity and rebuild a vibrant ‘Rangla Punjab’ through sustained investment and policy-driven development.

On this occasion, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Set up with an investment worth ₹300 crore, this plant reaffirms the Punjab Government’s firm commitment to industrial growth and investor facilitation. The state-of-the-art plant of Cargill Private Limited has started its operations at the Industrial Park, Wazirabad in Mandi Gobindgarh. Punjab is witnessing substantial industrial investments through the Invest Punjab initiative, and these investments are generating employment opportunities for the youth and accelerating Punjab’s overall economic development.”

The Chief Minister further stated that the growing investor confidence clearly reflects that Punjab is emerging as a preferred destination for investments, particularly in the agriculture and food processing sectors. “The Punjab Government is fully committed to providing every possible support and ensuring a business-friendly ecosystem through progressive policies and a peaceful industrial environment,” he said.

Highlighting the scale of the project, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Spread over 15 acres, the Cargill plant has an annual production capacity of 4.5 lakh metric tonnes and is the largest cattle feed plant in South Asia.”

The Chief Minister added that after Bathinda, this marks Cargill’s second major unit in Punjab, further strengthening the agro-industrial value chain of Punjab. “The project will offer direct benefits to farmers by ensuring the local availability of high-quality cattle feed, thereby improving milk yield, quality and farmers’ income. The scientifically developed feed will enhance animal health and productivity, helping Punjab’s dairy sector scale new heights,” he said.

Sharing a video clip on X, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated: “The South Asia’s largest animal feed plant of Cargill, built at a cost of ₹300 crore, has been inaugurated at Wazirabad (Mandi Gobindgarh). This major project will boost the income of our dairy farmers and create hundreds of new employment opportunities for the youth of Punjab. Ahead of the Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit 2026, this stands as a significant achievement of our government in the industrial sector. We remain fully committed to rebuilding a ‘Rangla Punjab’.”

Crackdown on Fake Agents, Action Against ‘Donkey Route’; Government Will Not Allow Youth’s Future to Be Jeopardized: Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini

Chandigarh, February 27 – Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the state government has taken several effective steps to enhance skills and generate employment opportunities for youth within the state. However, if any young person wishes to go abroad, the government has established a ‘Foreign Cooperation Department’ to assist them. This department helps youth in securing employment and education opportunities overseas.

The Chief Minister was responding to points raised by the opposition on the Governor’s Address during the ongoing Budget Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha on Friday. He said that the website of the ‘Foreign Cooperation Department’ provides information related to employment, education, trade, and investment abroad. In addition, it also lists authorized agents who are permitted to send individuals overseas. Through this website, youth can obtain details about the process of going abroad, required documents, and government assistance. He also appealed to the youth of the state not to fall prey to agents who send people abroad through illegal means.

The Chief Minister stated that the government is taking strict action against agents who send youth abroad through the illegal ‘donkey route.’ To curb fraud in the name of sending people abroad and to regulate travel agents, a law has already been enacted. The government is sending youth abroad through legal channels via HKRNS. He added that HKRNL has received in-principle approval for a Recruiting Agent license from the Ministry of External Affairs. Advertisements in this regard are being published by HKRNL from time to time.

The Chief Minister further informed that the Haryana Foreign Cooperation Department and Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam Limited organized the Panchjanya-2026 programme on January 3. Under this initiative, offer letters were issued to 210 youth for employment in Dubai. So far, 390 youth have been sent to Israel in two phases and are getting a monthly salary of more than Rs. 3.38 lakh. He added that recently a demand for 10,000 workers has been received from abroad. Through Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam, advertisements have been issued to send 7,600 eligible beneficiaries to Israel and 100 beneficiaries to Oman. The selection process is currently underway.

Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini Rejects Allegations of Rising Debt, Says State’s Fiscal Position Is Sustainable

Chandigarh, February 27 — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, while speaking during the Budget Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha, rejected the allegation that the state has been pushed into excessive debt and asserted that the government’s intent and fiscal direction are clear and responsible.

The Chief Minister stated that a comparison of debt growth between the previous Congress government and the present dispensation presents a factual picture. He informed the House that during the Congress tenure from 2004–05 to 2014–15, the state’s debt liabilities increased by 458.30 percent over a period of ten years. In contrast, during the ten-year period from 2014–15 to 2024–25 under the current government, debt liabilities have risen by 227.49 percent, which is less than half of the increase recorded during the Congress regime.

He further said that as per the Budget Estimates for 2025–26, the state’s fiscal deficit is projected to remain at 2.67 percent of GSDP, which is well within the 3 percent limit prescribed under the FRBM Act by the 15th Finance Commission. This, he emphasized, reflects prudent financial management and adherence to fiscal discipline.

Highlighting the state’s commitment to meeting its financial obligations, the Chief Minister informed that over the past ten years, the government has paid Rs. 3,66,016 crore towards debt servicing. This includes Rs. 1,61,796 crore as interest payments and Rs. 2,04,220 crore towards repayment of principal.

He categorically stated that both principal and interest payments are being made regularly and that there has not been a single instance of default in servicing debt installments or interest payments. This clearly demonstrates that the state’s debt position is sustainable and under control.

CM Nayab Singh Saini Rejects Congress Objection, Says the Word ‘Naagrik’ Reflects Constitutional Spirit, Not Just Residency

Chandigarh, February 27 — Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, while speaking during the Budget Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha, firmly defended the use of the word “naagrik” (citizens) in the Address and described the objection raised by Congress MLA Pooja as reflective of a fundamental difference in thinking rather than a mere semantic issue.

Responding to the written suggestion made by the Congress legislator to replace the word “naagrik” (citizens) with “nivaasi” (residents) in the Governor’s Address, the Chief Minister stated that the term “citizen” is intrinsically linked to the spirit of the Constitution, democratic rights, and duties, whereas the term “resident” merely indicates geographical presence. He emphasized that a resident may simply live in a place, but a citizen is an active participant in the state’s progress, policy-making, democratic processes, and social responsibilities.

The Chief Minister asserted that the people of Haryana are not merely inhabitants of the state but are its strength, identity, and architects of its future. He underlined that the word “citizen” reminds people not only of their rights but also of their duties, including the right to vote, respect for the rule of law, tax obligations, and responsibility towards society.

Highlighting Haryana’s proud legacy, he said the state has given the nation brave soldiers, hardworking farmers, world-class athletes, and enterprising entrepreneurs. Referring to such distinguished contributions, he remarked that limiting these accomplished individuals to the term “residents” would diminish the magnitude of their role and achievements.

The Chief Minister further stated that under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the double-engine government is committed to empowering, securing, and honoring every citizen. He said that the expression “citizens of Haryana” is not merely a form of address but a proclamation of equal rights, equal opportunities, and shared responsibility, which embodies the true spirit of democracy.

Concluding his address, the Chief Minister said there is no need for any amendment to the Governor’s Address, as the meaning and sentiment of the word “citizen” are clear and constitutionally appropriate. He also assured the members of the House that the development needs raised by them during the discussion would be addressed with utmost seriousness and that every possible effort would be made to fulfill their demands. He appealed to the House to pass the Governor’s Address unanimously.

Clearing Arvind Kejriwal in excise policy case exposes conspiracy by PM Modi & Amit Shah to target AAP: Bhagwant Singh Mann

CHANDIGARH, 27th February 2026:

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday said that the discharge of charges against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, senior AAP leader and Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia, and others in the excise policy case by the court has vindicated the party’s consistent stand that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and other central agencies have been reduced to mere puppets in the hands of the Union government to target political rivals.

In a video message, Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “It is a historic day in the politics of the country because the court has acquitted Arvind Kejriwal and 23 others who were wrongly booked by the CBI. The case against Arvind Kejriwal and others was a desperate attempt by the Union government to stop the Aam Aadmi Party, which was spreading its wings across the country through its agenda of good work. The order of the court is a testament to the fact that the dark night, however long it is, does end and the triumph of light is there.”

Thanking the people who prayed for Arvind Kejriwal and the party, Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The prayers of the common people have done wonders and these honest leaders have been acquitted. The order of the court has put a serious question mark on the working of the CBI, which is acting like a puppet in the hands of its masters. It has exposed the blatant misuse of the central agencies by those in power at the Centre to muzzle the voice of democracy.”

Referring to the political developments in Delhi, Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “In order to merely win the elections in Delhi, the entire decision-making team of the Aam Aadmi Party was put behind bars by the BJP-led Union government. Today’s decision of the court has proved that Arvind Kejriwal is an honest man who rules the hearts of people because he speaks the truth. Every volunteer of the National Convenor of AAP is in the field of politics just to serve the people, as they were already earning handsome money in their respective fields.”

Taking on traditional political parties, Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “The traditional parties are envious of the Aam Aadmi Party because we have set the agenda of the welfare of the common man. Earlier, the Congress and the BJP used to play friendly matches by enjoying power on a rotation basis and securing the interests of each other during their days in power. They used to play musical chairs in power and waited for their turns to plunder the people and the country.”

He further affirmed, “This dirty play was stopped when the Aam Aadmi Party assumed centre stage in the politics of the country, but these parties do not want this to happen. Anyone who raises a voice against corruption and their nasty tantrums faces their wrath and is put behind bars without any reason. The benefactors of corruption, who have deep roots everywhere, target honest people and slap false cases against them.”

Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “It is a move to hijack democracy by creating their own database of votes instead of seeking votes from people. Instead of seeking votes from the masses by folding hands before them, the Union government has devised this strategy where the same voters are used to manipulate the victory of their party in any state. It is fatal for the country, its people and even democracy. The forefathers of the Indian freedom struggle must have been peeved over it.”

Issuing a direct challenge to PMModi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “It is alright if you want to rule, but for that you should win the hearts of the people by your work and not through such tactics. Instead of improving education, roads, power, health sector, employment and other sectors in the country, the BJP is pursuing its agenda of hate and divisiveness. These democratically elected dictators use dissent and lure among their political rivals to freeze election symbols and then manipulate the polls.”

Continuing his attack, Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Every patriot wants the country to be number one and not witness the manipulations in which the Modi-Shah duo is indulging. Every honest countryman objects to the manner in which the country is being run these days. They should stop dividing the country on sectarian lines for their vested political interests, as it is not in the favour of the nation.”

Drawing an analogy, Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “A bouquet has a variety of flowers that fascinate people and they love to see it. The variety of flowers soothes the eyes of everyone and people throng to see them, but if there is only one type of flower it creates monotony. In the same manner, harmonious and peaceful co-existence of every religion in society is important for the progress of the country.”

Praising the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Arvind Kejriwal is a man of action who transformed Delhi with sheer hard work and dedication. When the Aam Aadmi Party government assumed power in Delhi, the annual budget was ₹30,000 crore, and the last budget under it was ₹66,000 crore. Every single penny was spent judiciously on providing free power, world-class schools, Mohalla Clinics and other facilities to the people.”

Striking an emotional note, Bhagwant Singh Mann noted, “Arvind Kejriwal cried for the country as its condition is getting worse with every passing day. Such poor treatment of an honest man is not desirable. India today needs only an engine of patriotism to steer it out of the several prevailing maladies. Those in power are promoting double engine or triple engine governments in the country, which are not needed.”

Opposition left with no real issues, resorting to baseless allegations to mislead the House: CM Saini

Chandigarh, February 27

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday factually rejected the Opposition’s allegation of a Rs. 5,000 crore scam in paddy procurement, stating that the Opposition, having no substantive issues to raise, is attempting to mislead the House with unverified claims by introducing calling attention motion on this issue.

Responding to the allegations made by MLA, Ashok Arora, the Chief Minister, said that such serious accusations should be supported by credible evidence. He urged the Opposition to place any proof before the House instead of making unfounded assertions. He clarified that paddy procurement in Haryana is conducted strictly in accordance with Government of India guidelines through authorized agencies and is monitored under a robust, multi-layered system. The claim of a Rs. 5,000 crore scam, he said, is entirely without factual basis.

Drawing a comparison with previous governments, the Chief Minister apprised the House that in earlier times, systemic gaps often led to irregularities that adversely affected farmers. In contrast, under the leadership of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, the Double Engine Government, has implemented structural reforms to enhance transparency, accountability and farmer welfare. Farmers today, he said, have clarity regarding their income and are assured procurement of their produce at the Minimum Support Price.

Highlighting reforms introduced by the present government, he noted that the procurement system has been digitized from the farm level, including the introduction of a digital gate-pass mechanism to enhance transparency. He also emphasized that while farmers previously had to wait for months, sometimes even up to a year, to receive payments, the current system ensures timely disbursement.

The Chief Minister further said that if any instance of fake slips, duplicate entries or other irregularities has been detected, the government has acted promptly and firmly. Unlike in the past, when irregularities often went unchecked, the present system identifies discrepancies and ensures corrective action. He said that farmers are not concerned; rather, it is the Opposition that appears unsettled. He asked them to clarify what action they had taken against irregularities during their tenure. At the same time, the Chief Minister invited constructive suggestions, assuring that the government remains open to positive inputs aimed at strengthening the procurement process.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, he said that procurement operations — from the arrival of paddy in mandis to the return of rice from millers — are monitored at every stage. Complaints received are being examined, and any wrongdoing will invite strict action. He reiterated that the government will not tolerate irregularities and remains committed to continuously strengthening the system to safeguard farmers’ interests.

During the Opposition’s tenure, irregularities were rampant and rarely detected

The Chief Minister stated that paddy procurement is carried out through government agencies in strict accordance with the guidelines laid down by the Government of India, with the entire process monitored through a multi-tier mechanism. This system had been in place for years; however, the present government has introduced significant reforms.

He said that from the arrival of paddy in the mandis to the return of rice by millers, checks have now been instituted at every stage. The Opposition, he remarked, is unwilling to acknowledge these reforms. During their time in office, irregular practices were commonplace and largely went unchecked. In contrast, under the new system implemented by the current state government, any malpractice is promptly detected and dealt with firmly. He further added that the government is continuously strengthening the system and is committed to making it fully robust and foolproof.

He informed the House that while the system had been continuing for years, his government introduced structural reforms. From the arrival of paddy in the mandi to the return of rice from rice millers, checks have now been placed at every stage. He said that earlier irregularities continued and no one was caught, but under the new system, any irregularity is detected, and strict action is taken. He further asserted that the government is continuously strengthening the system and will make it completely foolproof.

The Chief Minister further clarified that farmers register their crop on the ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora portal’, which is duly verified to ascertain sown area and assess production accurately. Therefore, allegations that there is no effective verification mechanism on the portal are incorrect. He informed the House that during the Kharif season 2025-26, State procurement agencies procured 62 lakh 13 thousand metric tonnes of non-basmati paddy at Minimum Support Price from 3 lakh 1 thousand farmers. As per the Meri Fasal Mera Byora portal of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, a total of 30 lakh 17 thousand 968 acres under non-basmati paddy was verified in the previous season, and estimated production was assessed at 97 lakh 86 thousand metric tonnes, said Sh. Nayab Singh Saini.

The Chief Minister further emphasized that the procurement policy is completely data-based. Crop arrival figures in mandis are estimated, whereas procurement figures are recorded on the basis of actual weight after cleaning and measurement.

Strict Action: 12 FIRs, 75 Departmental Inquiries, 28 Suspensions

The Chief Minister shared that complaints of irregularities were received in some mandis. During October and November 2025, joint committees were constituted in all districts, and physical verification of paddy stored in rice mills was conducted. Wherever prima facie irregularities were found, 12 FIRs were registered against concerned officers, employees, commission agents and rice millers. Investigations are being conducted impartially and transparently, and arrests of involved persons have also been made, said Sh. Nayab Singh Saini.

He further shared that, additionally, the Food and Supplies Department, procurement agencies and the Marketing Board initiated departmental inquiries against 75 officers and employees, out of which 28 have been suspended. A recovery of Rs. 6 crore 37 lakh has been made from rice millers and deposited into the government treasury. Payments to labour, lifting and transport contractors associated with suspected paddy lifting have been stopped, and their role is under investigation. This clearly shows that our government does not tolerate negligence or corruption at any level, informed Saini.

The government’s data reflects the true on-ground realities and has not been inflated or manipulated in any manner

The Chief Minister said that certain members have raised concerns regarding discrepancies between the figures of crop arrivals and procurement. He clarified that the arrival figures recorded at any mandi are largely based on estimates, whereas procurement figures are entered after weighment and reflect the actual measured quantity. He cited the examples of Ambala, Fatehabad, Kaithal, Karnal, and Sirsa districts, where no abnormal variation has been observed between arrival and procurement data.

He said that allegations of a 30 to 50 percent discrepancy, he said, are baseless and devoid of facts. In Mahendragarh and Rewari districts, there was no paddy arrival or procurement during the Kharif marketing season 2025–26, which further underscores that the government’s data is grounded in reality and has not been artificially inflated or manipulated.

The Chief Minister further stated that the Government of India had assigned the state a target of 8 lakh metric tonnes of Custom Milled Rice (CMR), permitting up to 10 percent broken rice. This target has nearly been achieved, and timely supply to the Food Corporation of India is being ensured, he said.

Saini said that the issue had also been raised during the December 2025 session through a Calling Attention motion, following which the government took suo motu cognizance and initiated both an inquiry and corrective measures. The double-engine government, he emphasized, believes in proactive governance rather than reactive measures, he said.

E-Procurement Portal being Upgraded; Geo-Tagging, Biometric Verification and CCTV to Enhance Transparency

Saini said that to prevent any recurrence of irregularities, the e-procurement portal is being comprehensively upgraded. Beginning with the upcoming Rabi and Kharif marketing seasons 2026–27, several technology-driven measures will be introduced, including geo-tagged gate passes, automatic number plate recognition for vehicles, geo-fencing of mandis, warehouses and rice mills, and installation of CCTV cameras at entry and exit points.

The Chief Minister said that, in addition, provisions such as biometric verification of farmers and physical inspections through a mobile application will be implemented. Physical verification will now be strictly conducted within the geo-fenced framework to ensure that designated officials carry out inspections on-site, thereby eliminating any possibility of paperwork-based formalities or manipulation. He further informed that on December 11, 2025, the per-acre yield limit was revised to ensure better alignment between actual production and procurement data.

He also highlighted a landmark decision taken in the interest of pearl millet (bajra) farmers. Under the ‘Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana’, farmers are being compensated at the rate of Rs. 575 per quintal. Approximately 1.57 lakh farmers have benefited from the procurement of 6.23 lakh metric tonnes of bajra, with Rs. 358.62 crore being directly transferred into their bank accounts.

Haryana’s initiative saves over Rs.700 core in fertilizer subsidy

The Chief Minister stated that the Meri Fasal Mera Byora portal has been integrated with the IFMS portal for fertilizer sales. This integration has curbed the diversion of DAP to industrial use and prevented the outflow of urea beyond the state. As a result, in less than five months, savings exceeding Rs. 700 crore have been achieved in the national fertilizer subsidy bill, an achievement made possible solely due to the Meri Fasal Mera Byora (MFMB)  portal.

He said that the Central Government is encouraging other states to adopt a similar system to ensure that fertilizer subsidies reach only eligible farmers. Haryana, he noted, remains the only state so far to have successfully implemented such a mechanism.

Through the MFMB. and e-procurement systems, the government has directly transferred Rs. 1.64 lakh crore into farmers’ bank accounts over the past 12 crop seasons. Reiterating the government’s commitment, the Chief Minister asserted that farmers’ rights will not be compromised under any circumstances.

The Chief Minister said that strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty, regardless of position or rank. He assured the House that the government remains steadfast in protecting farmers’ interests, with farmer-centric policies, transparent processes and clear intent at the core of its governance approach.

Congress stages strong protest against changes to MNREGA

Chandigarh, February 25. The Haryana Congress today held a strong protest against the changes made by the BJP government to MNREGA as the Congress said the BJP is deliberately trying to weaken the social security net provided to the poorest of the poor.
Party in-charge BK Hariprasad, former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda, State President Rao Narendra, former State President Chaudhary Udaybhan, MPs Deepender Singh Hooda, Jaiprakash JP, Varun Mulana, Satpal Brahmachari, Jitendra Baghel, along with other senior leaders, MPs, MLAs, and thousands of workers participated.
Party leaders, workers and many people marched from the Congress office towards the Assembly. However, the police, adopting an undemocratic attitude, stopped the peaceful march midway. They raised slogans against the government’s dictatorship and its conspiracy to abolish MNREGA. They waved placards and party flags to register their strong protest.
The police detained several senior leaders and thousands of workers.
On this occasion, Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the BJP government has undermined the rights of Dalits, backward classes, the poor, rural population, and panchayats, but Congress stands firmly with MNREGA workers and is campaigning across the country to protect their employment.
He said that the BJP, after coming to power, began weakening MNREGA. “The Congress’ response to a question in Parliament revealed that over 800,000 MNREGA workers were registered in Haryana. However, in 2024-25, the government provided 100 days of work to only 2,100 families. The government neither provided work nor compensation as outlined in the scheme,” he said.
“This means the BJP had already virtually abolished this scheme in Haryana. Now, with the name change, the scheme has been wiped out. However, Congress will oppose it at every level and force the government to reverse this anti-people decision,” he added.
Hooda said that the MNREGA scheme introduced by the Congress government was meant to advance Mahatma Gandhi’s Gram Swaraj movement, and its budget was determined based on demand, meaning there was no budget limit in this law. All states and districts were required to provide work to all those who sought it. It was the central government’s responsibility to allocate the budget for all those workers.
“But now, that budget has been divided between the central government and the states in such a way that its determination and management become difficult,” Hooda pointed out.

National Round Table Conference of ECI and State Election Commissioners to be held on Tuesday

Chandigarh, February 23

The Election Commission of India (ECI) will organise the National Round Table Conference of ECI and State Election Commissioners (SECs) on Tuesday, i.e., February 24, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The Round Table Conference is being convened after a gap of 27 years. The last such Conference was held in the year 1999.

An ECI spokesperson said the Round Table Conference will be chaired by the Chief Election Commissioner, Sh. Gyanesh Kumar, in the presence of Election Commissioners, Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi.

State Election Commissioners of all States and Union Territories will participate along with their legal and technical experts. Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of all 36 States and Union Territories will also attend the Conference.

The primary objective of the Round Table Conference is to foster synergies in the functioning of ECI and SECs with respect to electoral processes and logistics within their respective legal frameworks. The deliberations are expected to provide a platform for constructive exchange of ideas and reinforce the spirit of cooperative federalism in electoral management.

During the day-long conference, discussions will focus around sharing of technology, EVMs and Electoral Rolls, besides strengthening of electoral processes.

Senior officials of the Commission will make presentations on key technological and operational initiatives including the recently launched ECINET digital platform and its transformative potential in streamlining electoral services.

Presentations will also highlight robustness, transparency and safeguards of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

Comparative presentation on States/UT-wise eligibility of electors with reference to the Representation of the People Act, 1950 will also be made to facilitate informed deliberations on legal frameworks governing Electoral Roll preparation across jurisdictions.

State Election Commissions are created by law of the respective States under the empowering provisions of 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendments. SECs are vested with the superintendence, direction and control of the preparation of the electoral rolls for, and the conduct of all elections to the Panchayats and Municipal Bodies under Articles 243K and 243ZA respectively.
