PUNJAB BAGS AWARDS IN FOUR DIFFERENT CATEGORIES OF SWACHH BHARAT MISSION GRAMEEN- JIMPA

     Getting scripted its name in major achiever states, Punjab has bagged awards in four different categories under Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen. The state secured first position in biodegradable waste management in the wall painting category among north zone state. In another category of overall Top State in North Zone, Punjab awarded second prise for ODF sustainability measures and ODF Plus components based on Swachh Sarvekshan Gramin-2022. The state ranked on third position in the North Zone States of the country for exemplary efforts made to make the people aware in both Plastic Waste Management and Gray water Management. Head of Punjab Water Supply and Sanitation Department Mr. Vipul Ujwal and Chief Engineer of the Department Mr. Rajesh Khosla received the awards from Union Jal Shakti Minister Mr. Gajendra Singh Shekhwat during Swachh Bharat Awards Ceremony organized by the Jal Shakti Ministry at Vigyan Bhawan New Delhi on Sunday.  Mr.Ujwal said the Punjab Government led by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is working dedicatedly to give more environmental friendly look to the villages in the state. Punjab CM has taken it as a mission to create cleaner and healthier environment in the villages and the state government is committed to save the ground water from further depletion. To make state clean, green and pollution free is the top priority of the state government. The state government is working wholeheartedly to provide clean drinking water to every household in rural sectors of Punjab besides working zealously in the field of liquid and solid waste management.   He further said that concerted efforts are being made to check the depleting water table by providing the supply of surface water. Water supply and sanitation Minister Punjab  Brahm Shanker Jimpa has congratulated the people of Punjab and the authorities and employees working under Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen and Jal Jeevan Mission on bagging these awards by Punjab. He said that the state government would continue its efforts in these areas as top priority.  Meanwhile Punjab`s 15 districts were awarded with `Har Ghar Jal` certificates for doing exemplary work in providing clean drinkable water to every household in their respective areas. These districts of Punjab were awarded among 33 other selected for achieving targets under Jal Jeevan Mission in a commendable manner out of total 735 districts across India. After receiving the awards Mr. Ujwal informed that Punjab has been awarded third position in the North Zone States of our country for spreading awareness about Plastic Waste Management and Gray water Management (Treating the unclean used water of kitchen and Washroom) in the village panchayats and among common people through the means of wall paintings. He further said that the State government led by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been working determinedly to make the people aware about the need and benefits of a healthy environment under Swachh Bharat Mission and Jal Jeevan Mission. Punjab Minister of water Supply and Sanitation Mr. Bram Shankar Jimpa encourages the authorities and employees to do their work wholeheartedly in these areas, added Mr. Ujwal. He stated that this achievement will boost the morale of the teams working under Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) in the state encouraging them to achieve excellent results in near future. Meanwhile, in a major achievement, Punjab`s 15 districts were also awarded with ‘Har Ghar Jal’ certificate during the programme by Ministry of Jal Shakti on Sunday for providing quality drinking water to every household in the districts. The districts of Punjab which got this achievement were included in 33 selected districts out of a total 735 districts across India for their exemplary work under Jal Jeevan Mission. The districts of Punjab which received these certificates included Barnala, Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Malerkotla, Mansa, Muktsar Sahib, Pathankot, SAS Nagar, Ludhiana, Patiala and SBS Nagar. Mr. Ujwal adds “Other districts of Punjab will definitely get inspired by these 15 districts and will get themselves to be known for great achievements in near future.” 

Punjab Govt to open five cardiac care centres: Chetan Singh Jauramajra

In a major releif to the general public of the state, the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab government has decided to construct five cardiac care centres in Punjab.

Revealing this, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Mr. Chetan Singh Jauramajra said that the process to set up these centres has already been initiated. As the graph of cardiac ailments rising day by day, poor people suffering from cardiac diseases could not afford expensive treatment at the private hospitals as the state government hospitals lacked equivalent facilities. Hence, to safeguard the health of the poor people and to save them from exorbitant charges at private hospitals, state government through Punjab Health Systems Corporation was setting up five Cardiac Care Centres at Bathinda, Sangrur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Pathankot, he added.

The Cabinet Minister said that these centres will be equipped with ultra modern healthcare facilities and shall have experienced doctors and supporting staff, however, the services shall be provided to the patients on discounted rates. For two Centres i.e. Bathinda and Sangrur, the Project is near the process of awarding of the contract. However, for rest three Centres i.e. Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Pathankot, the bidding process has been initiated and shall be closed soon.

He further said that he hopes that these cardiac care centres will prove to be an important step towards making secondary and tertiary healthcare in common people’s reach and such people will not have to spend their life’s savings on treatment.

The project shall be developed on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, wherein the Private Player shall be required to construct the Cardiac Care Centres at each of the 5 (five) District Hospitals and thereupon, operate and maintain for a pre-determined Contract Period.

Kirpal Singh wins gold medal in discus throw, makes new record at National Games

In the ongoing 36th National Games at Gujarat today, players from Punjab won three gold, one silver and three bronze medals, besides an athlete creating a new record at National Games record by an athlete from Punjab. Punjab has won a total of 38 medals, so far, with 11 gold, 14 silver and 13 bronze medals.

Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer while congratulating the winning players said that these players have brought laurels to the state on the national stage with their dedication and hard work.

In today’s events, Punjab’s Kirpal Singh Batth won the gold medal in the men’s discus throw. He broke Shakti Singh’s 25-year-old National Games record with a throw of 59.32 Mtr. Punjab’s Sift Kaur Samra won gold and another Punjab player Anjum Maudgil won bronze in the women’s 50m rifle three positions. Vijayveer Singh Sidhu and Harnavdeep Kaur won the gold medal in the air pistol mixed team event.

In the rowing team competition, the Punjab team of Bhagwan Singh, Jaspreet Bija, Arvinder Singh and Sukhjinder Singh won the silver medal. Apart from this, the team of Udaiveer Singh, Parveer Singh and Nekpreet Singh won the bronze medal in the fencing team competition. The Punjab team also won the bronze medal in basketball 3X3.

In women’s hockey pool matches, Punjab defeated Madhya Pradesh by 2-1. Earlier Punjab defeated Karnataka by 6-1 yesterday.

Vigilance nabs revenue Patwari for taking bribe Rs 5,000

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau during its campaign against corruption on Monday nabbed a Patwari Jaspreet Singh posted at revenue halqa Hathur, Tehsil Jagraon, district Ludhiana red handed accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000.

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau (VB) said Patwari Jaspreet Singh was arrested on the complaint of Resham Singh of village Hathur, tehsil Jagraon. He informed that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said Patwari was demanding Rs. 3,000 per acre as bribe effecting mutual partition of ancestral land measuring 25 acres which comes to total bribe amount of Rs 75,000.

After verifying his information, a VB team laid a trap and the accused Patwari was arrested on the spot while accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 as a first instalment from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB, Economic Offences Wing, police station Ludhiana and further investigation was under progress.

Kultar Singh Sandhwan advises students to work hard and adopt high moral values

Kultar Singh Sandhwan said here today that school students will be regularly  invited to Vidhan Sabha sessions to broaden their horizons and show them the functioning of the government. He was addressing a group of students, specially invited  by him  to attend the session.  

He advised the students to work hard and adopt high moral values, and said that fom the next legislative session, more and more students will be shown the proceedings of the House 

Sandhwan said that the future of the country is in the hands of the students. They should work hard with strong commitment and dedication so that the nation could be built in a better way. He said that the future of the nation would be completely secure if the students will be more disciplined and have high moral values.

S. Sandhwan emphasized the need for educational tours for students so that they can obtain knowledge more effectively. He said that educational tours tend to increase the knowledge of students. Therefore, this should be an integral part of a student’s education.  He said that from the next legislative session, more and more students will be shown the proceedings of the House

Lunch was also hosted by the Speaker for the students. S. Sandhwan’s wife Mrs. Gurpreet Kaur Sandhwan had lunch with the students and interacted with them. She asked the students to study with determination. Meanwhile, the students watched the proceedings of the House with great interest and enthusiasm.They looked completely happy during this time.

Meanwhile, the mother Mrs Gurmel Kaur and wife Mrs Gurpreet Kaur Sandhwan of the Vidhan Sabha Speaker also witnessed the assembly proceedings.

Placement drive held at Dev Samaj College of Education

Dev Samaj College of Education(DSCE)organised a placement drive for students of B.Ed, M.Ed, PG Diploma in Guidance and Counseling, and PG Diploma in Child and Family Counseling at its premises in Sector 36, Chandigarh. The drive took place under the able   guidance and leadership of Shriman Nirmal Singh ji Dhillon, Chairman Dev Samaj College of Education and Dr. (Mrs.) Agnese Dhillon, principal of the college.

A total of 11 prestigious schools participated in the placement drive. These included Sant Isher School, ATS Valley School, Baru Sahib School, DAV Sr. Sec. School Sector-8, Sherwood Convent School, AKSIPS Smart School, I.S Dev Samaj Sr. Sec. School Sector 21,  The Millennium School Mohali, DCM Group of Schools and others.

Dr. Agnese Dhillon, Principal of the college said, “The placement drive is  an essential part of the college as it is instrumental in building confidence among the students. A total of 85 students participated in the placement drive. Overall, the students showed immense enthusiasm in different rounds of selection.”

Blue Spider’ web series kick-started with muhurat shot in city

Upcoming Hindi web series, ‘Blue Spider’ kick-started with a muhurat shot at sector 34 here on Friday.

The series based on the concept of desi villager-turns-superhero, is being directed by Jagadhri lad Rakesh Kumar. It is being produced by Ajay Sharma, director of Morph Academy & Boxfy and Anjana Sharma .

Talking to media at the muhurat shot, Ajay Sharma said , “ This series will be presenting the live action plus animation VFX and we are quite hopeful that the series will be liked by the audience.”

A long cherished dream and 4-year long efforts are finally being realized through a series that is predominantly based on VFX– a first-of-its-kind venture in India, remarked Rakesh Kumar.

Being produced through cloud funding at the low budget of Rs. 2 cr, the series will cast new budding artists and actors who till now have only performed in theatres and street-plays, said Rakesh.

The web series has been written by Rakesh himself and its cinematographer is Parm.

Pragati and Rakesh are playing the lead in Blue Spider which is expected to be released on OTT platforms early next year.

Haryana makes zoo entry free for visitors during the ‘National Wildlife Week’

As per the direction of the Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, visitor entry has been made free of cost in the zoos of Bhiwani, Rohtak and Pipli during the ‘National Wildlife Week’. Besides this, children are being encouraged to visit the zoos during the ‘National Wildlife Week’ from October 2 to October 8.

Sharing more information in this regard, an official spokesperson said that the ‘National Wildlife Week’ is being celebrated in Haryana as well as across the country.  This wildlife week is celebrated to bring more and more awareness among the general public to preserve the wildlife.

Main programme to be held in Chhachhrauli on October 6

The spokesperson said that the main programme of ‘National Wildlife Week’ will be organized in Chhachhrauli, Yamunanagar on October 6.   Forest Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal will be the Chief Guest in the programme.  During this week people will be made aware to plant more and more saplings and conserve wildlife.

Painting competition will be organized in every district

The spokesperson said that during the ‘National Wildlife Week’, painting competitions would be organized in every district to make children aware of wildlife conservation.  The winners will also be given awards.  Meanwhile, the children participating in the Yamunanagar district will be honoured in the main programme to be held in Chhachhrauli.

Exhibition will also be organized on Wildlife Week

The spokesperson said that an exhibition related to wildlife would also be organized at Chhachhrauli.  Photographs, paintings and documentaries related to wildlife will also be displayed in this exhibition.

PUNJAB AMONG TOP FIVE STATES IN THE COUNTRY IN SWACHATA SARVEKSHAN AWARD

Local government minister, Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that  Punjab has secured 5th position in Swachata Survekshan 2022,  awards given by Union Ministry of Housing and Urban affairs. The competition takes place among all the states of the country,  having more than 100 Urban Local Bodies (ULB).  Punjab has got the first position in the northern zone, which is a matter of pride for the Punjab State and an inspiration for the rest of the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), said the minister.  He congratulated the Management, officials and employees of the Local Government Department for this achievement.

He also said that last year Punjab had stood seventh and had improved it’s position to fifth, this year. 

He further informed that during the Swachata SARVEKSHAN Punjab has scored 2935 points across the country.  He also said that according to the population of the city, Moonak, NawanShahar and Gobindgarh have got the first rank as clean cities.  In addition,   Ghagga, Bareta, Bhikhi, Dasuya, Kurali, Nangal and Fazilka were also honoured with awards in the cleanliness survey ceremony.

The  Minister,  said that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, had  organized an award ceremony on the basis of Swachata SARVEKSHAN 2022at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi on Saturday.

Local Government Minister, Dr.  Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Punjab, Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann is fully working to provide a clean environment to the people of the state.  As a result, it has won an award in the cleanliness survey by Urban Local Bodies(ULBs) of Punjab Government.

 The Minister also appealed to other Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) that they should also take inspiration from the Urban Local Bodies that have secured the position.  Apart from this, he also appealed to the people of the State to cooperate with the government in keeping their surroundings clean so that in the future, it will help to bring Punjab to the first position in the cleanliness survey across the country.
