Corruption, Inflation, Unemployment, and Drug Abuse are at their peak, Under the BJP Government’s tenure: Kumari Selja

Chandigarh, January 25

The General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, former Union Minister, and MP from Sirsa, Kumari Selja said that the Haryana BJP government on completing 100 days of its tenure, stating that not a single promise from its manifesto has been fulfilled so far. She said the government has forgotten its promise to provide ₹2100 monthly to women and compensate farmers for crops damaged due to hailstorms. Furthermore, the government has failed to control unemployment, inflation, corruption, and drug abuse. Kumari Selja said that the state’s law and order system has collapsed, gangsters are thriving, public murders are happening, and extortion demands are being made.

In a statement released to the media, Kumari Selja said that in the last ten years and 100 days, Haryana’s government has earned the reputation of being a “jumla government” (all talk, no action). The trend of making false promises to gain power and then misleading the people has become common. Under BJP rule, the state has been plagued by unemployment, inflation, corruption, and drug addiction, with no concrete steps taken to address these issues. Lawlessness has taken over, with increasing incidents of theft, robbery, snatching, and extortion. Criminals have no fear, as evident from the frequent public murders and even political assassinations.

She said that unemployment in the state is at its peak. Youth are only being given “D-category” jobs, while “A” and “B-category” jobs are being offered to outsiders.

Kumari Selja accused the government of finding various ways to exploit the people financially. She said the imposition of FSA (Fuel Surcharge Adjustment) on electricity bills, which has made Haryana’s electricity rates higher than in other states. By increasing collector rates, the government has dashed the dreams of people wanting to build their own homes. Poor people now hesitate a thousand times before even thinking of buying property, which has become even more expensive. Kumari Selja said the BJP government has disregarded farmers’ demands and hurt their sentiments. The government is boasting about purchasing 24 crops under MSP, most of which are not even cultivated in the state. Despite promising compensation for 85,000 acres of crops damaged by hailstorms, the government has conveniently forgotten about it. Kumari Selja said that the current condition of the BJP government is such that even officers do not take calls from MLAs and MPs, so how can ordinary citizens expect to be heard?

While extending her Republic Day greetings to the countrymen, Kumari Selja paid homage to all the freedom fighters, Constitution makers, and brave soldiers who dedicated their lives to securing the country’s independence, strengthening it, and protecting it. She also said that the BJP government, alleging it wants to undermine the Constitution. Kumari Selja assured that Congress will not let this happen and its fight to protect the Constitution will continue.
