     Continuing the spree of providing jobs to the youth of Punjab as committed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, another batch of 77 civilian candidates of the financial domain is going to join the Punjab Bureau of Investigation (PBI) of Punjab Police from Monday onwards, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Sunday. From a total of 77 Financial Experts, 10 candidates will be joining as Financial Officers, while, 67 candidates (46 Male and 21 Female candidates) are Assistant Financial Officers.          The development came a little over a month after Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had handed over appointment letters to 144 civilian candidates of legal experts and forensic experts during a function organised on May 18, 2023. With the joining of this batch the total number of Civilian Support Staff will reach 221.          DGP Gaurav Yadav said that this is the first Police Force in the country to recruit Civilian Support Staff in domains including legal, forensics and finance, which will not only enhance the investigation function through its effective separation from law & order but will also improve the efficacy of investigation and overall policing.          While welcoming the newly recruited batch into the Punjab Police family, he congratulated the youth for becoming an integral part of the Punjab Police. He said that to overcome major challenges faced by society today it is imperative that the Police force is updated as per requirements in the field of investigation, science and technology.          He said that all the candidates have been selected completely on the basis of merit and had done a lot of hard work to get this post. As directed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Police have adopted a foolproof mechanism for the entire recruitment process so that candidates should not have to face any legal issues after joining, he added.          Director PBI LK Yadav said that all these officers, who are commerce/finance graduates and hold experience of seven years as Financial officers and two years of experience for Assistant Financial Officers, will help to curb the economic/financial related frauds. After the completion of mandatory training these newly recruited officers will be posted at different divisions/districts to support the Investigation Officer(s)/ Special Investigation Teams (SITs) in tracing the financial trail viz a viz bank accounts, balance sheets, account books etc. to locate the proceeds of crime, he added.          Meanwhile, the recruitment of Financial Officers will also help in implementing the process of attachment of property of criminals, especially drug smugglers, gangsters and terrorists.

    With Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has ordered all the officers to remain alert amid the ongoing incessant rains in the region, Punjab Police have made extensive arrangements to deal with any kind of exigency arising out of potential floods, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Sunday.          He said that a state control room has been set up for flood mitigation and concerned officers have been asked to take hourly reports from districts to keep them updated about the current situation in their concerned districts.          Pertinently, DGP Gaurav Yadav and Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla have been personally supervising the situation in the state, while, CPs/SSPs have also been directed to remain in the field and personally monitor the situation in their concerned districts at regular intervals.          Divulging more details, Special DGP Arpit Shukla said that teams of the State Disaster Response Force (STRF) are on alert and fully prepared to tackle any kind of crisis, he said, while adding that the teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have also been deployed in the flood-ravaged districts including SAS Nagar and Fatehgarh Sahib to carry out rescue operations and meet any exigency arising out of floods. Additionally, Army has also been asked to remain on alert, he added.          The Special DGP also urged people of the state not to panic and cooperate with the administration and police. He also appealed to the people residing in low-lying or flood-prone areas that they should move to safe places or relief centres set up by their concerned district administration for their safety.

PUNJAB GOVT TO ENHANCE AREA UNDER FISH FARMING TO 20K HECTARES

     In order to supplement the income of farmers and encourage diversification in the agricultural sector of the state, Chief Minister S Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government is all set to increase the fish farming area to 20,000 hectares from 16,812 hectares presently, which will increase fish production to 2 Lakh tonnes.          This was announced by Punjab Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister Mr Gurmeet Singh Khudian on the eve of “National Fish Farmers Day”, which is celebrated to commemorate Professor Dr. K.H. Alikunhi and Dr. Hiralal Chaudhury for their contribution in achieving the successful induced breeding of carp fish on July 10, 1957 for the first time in the country.          Congratulating the fish farmers and stakeholders, he said that the fish seed production will be enhanced to level of 25 Crore from current 20 Crore, in coming years.          Urging the farmers to adopt fish farming to increase their income, Mr Gurmeet Singh Khudian said that subsidy amounting to Rs. 20 Crore has been distributed to 366 beneficiaries for various projects under PMMSY Scheme.          Underlining the steps taken for the development of the fisheries sector in the State, the Cabinet Minister said that an insulated van has been granted on subsidy for transportation of fish and its products, besides setting up a private sector’s first mini fish feed mill in Jalandhar district with the provision of subsidy.          He informed that there are 15 Government Fish Seed Farms, 11 Fish Feed Mills and 7 Soil-Water testing Laboratories for the convenience of fish farmers in the State. The government is also providing free training to adopt fish and shrimp farming. Punjab Government has been providing 40% to 60% subsidy on various projects related to fisheries sector like new fish and shrimp ponds, re-circulatory aquaculture system, bio-floc culture system, fish shops, fish transportation vehicles, cold storage, etc.; through which means of self-employment is being provided to the young generation.          In saline affected districts, special efforts are being made by the Government to develop shrimp farming at a large scale. The Demonstration Farm-cum-Training Center established at Village Ena Khera in Sri Muktsar Sahib district has been functioning to provide all kinds of facilities to the shrimp farmers, he added.          The Cabinet Minister informed that the area under shrimp farming in the State has now crossed 1200 acres and the Government has been making concerted efforts to increase the area to over 5,000 acres in the next five years.

      Following the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann regarding the immediate assessment of the situation of the flood affected areas of the state in the wake of heavy rains in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, the Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Bram Shankar Jimpa, Power and PWD Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO and Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh on Sunday visited various flood affected areas of the state to take stock of the situation and ongoing relief activities.          Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Punjab government said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has directed the ministers, MLAs and officials of the state to be ready to deal with any situation arising due to heavy rain, and the Punjab government has made adequate arrangements in this regard. He said that following these directions the Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Bram Shankar Jimpa along with the senior officials of the respective districts visited the flood affected areas of Hoshiarpur and Adampur. On this occasion, Mr. Jimpa gave necessary directions to the officials and asked them to ensure all possible help to the flood effected people as per the directions issued by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He said that the Revenue Department has already started the process to release funds to deal with the flood like situation.          Divulging further, the spokesperson said that the Power and PWD Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO visited the flood affected villages Malowal and Dharar of Amritsar district. The minister directed the district administration to make arrangements for pumping out rain water accumulated in the fields and residential areas on priority. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Amritsar Amit Talwar apprised the Minister that the district administration has made all arrangements for any situation arising due to heavy rain. He informed the minister that the people in the areas adjacent to the river Ravi have already been informed about the release of water from the dam and adequate arrangements have been made to carry the people to the safe areas.          Meanwhile, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Patiala Sakshi Sawhney visited the flood-ravaged low-lying areas in Patiala rural and reviewed the situation at Vaddi Nadi and Chotti Nadi. He also called in JCB machines and pumping machines on the spot to get the accumulated water cleared from low-lying areas. On this occasion, Dr Balbir Singh urged the people not to panic as Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government has made all the arrangements to deal with any exigency arising out of floods.

Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal while chairing the key meeting with the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendent of Police held here today reviewed the progress of the Haryana Uday outreach programme.He said that the programme has been launched with the objective of strengthening community relations in the state and bridging the gap between the District Administration, law enforcement agencies and the public.“Public participation is very important in the Uday programme, therefore, under the Community Outreach Programme, the District Administration should organize monthly Jan Samvad in at least one village, Gram Sabha and weekly Gram Utsav programmes. Besides this, officers should ensure maximum public participation in these programmes, said Sh. Manohar Lal.Directing the officers, the Chief Minister said that today the problem of drugs has become a big challenge for society and the Haryana government has resolved to make the state drug-free. In this campaign, the police department should make the youth aware of drug addiction through outreach programmes. In such programmes, people should also be made aware of social issues like Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, environment protection and water conservation, said Sh. Manohar Lal.Sh. Manohar Lal also directed that the District Administration should prepare a detailed outline of the activities to be organized in the district under the Haryana Uday Outreach Programme and special attention should be paid to increasing people’s participation in it. He said that all the activities being conducted under the Haryana Uday Outreach Programme should be ensured to be uploaded on the portal as well.The Chief Minister further directed that schools should also be linked with the Haryana Uday Outreach Programme. For this, cultural programmes, and other educational activities can be organized at the school level. Along with this, various sports competitions should also be organized for the children in coordination with the sports department, said Sh. Manohar Lal.The Chief Minister was apprised that under the community policing and outreach programme, various programmes including village/area Samvad programme, pond cleaning with public participation, music, art and poetry competitions in schools/mohalla sports leagues, tree plantation drives, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan etc are being organized.Besides this, programmes like Raahgiri, Cyclothon, sports competitions in villages, awareness campaigns for drug abuse, old age care and police Pathshala etc. are being organized by the Police under the Community Policing Programme.Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. D.S Dhesi and Special Officer (Community Policing and Outreach Programme) Sh. Pankaj Nain also remained present in the meeting.

People’s representatives and eminent citizens of the assembly constituencies should also cooperate in the smooth execution of the development works by establishing coordination with the officers,” said Sh. Manohar Lal while presiding over a special meeting with public representatives and eminent persons of Gurugram Lok Sabha constituency and Administrative Secretaries of various departments held here today. Cooperation Minister, Dr. Banwari Lal and MLA, Sh. Sanjay Singh also remained present in the meeting.During the meeting, eminent citizens gave information about the difficulties related to the implementation of development projects and government schemes at the ground level.“The state government is continuously working in the interest of the society. Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal while taking a dig at Congress said that, unlike previous governments that used to follow the ritual of distributing jobs through unethical ways, the present state government does not distribute jobs as in our time deserving are taking jobs on their own merit.Addressing a press conference here today, Sh. Manohar Lal said, like the previous government, we do not have any guaranteed formula for giving jobs. We have a very fair and transparent system.While responding to a question regarding making any changes in the terms and conditions related to calling four-time candidates for the CET Mains exam, the Chief Minister further clarified that even the Court has said that any terms and conditions fixed before advertising any exam cannot be changed later at any stage.“At the initial stages of filling the CET examination, only the candidates were aware of this condition four times, now they are being misled by some people and have started opposing this condition,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.Responding to another question regarding pendency in the issuance of certificates to the Divyangs, the Chief Minister shared that as per the PPP data, there are 2.70 lakh Divyangs in the State, out of this, the certificates of 26 percent which is around 73,197 are pending.”The officers concerned have already been directed to clear all these pendencies within 2 to 8 weeks of time,” shared Sh. Manohar Lal.The Chief Minister said that on the basis of verified data in the Parivar Pehchan Patra, the State Government is providing financial assistance in case of death or disability of a member of the families having annual income up to Rs 1.80 lakh.He said that so far 227 beneficiaries have been provided assistance under DAYALU Yojana. Besides this, data of 600 persons is also available; the process of verification is going on, said Sh. Manohar Lal.He said that in this scheme there is a provision to provide financial assistance ranging from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh according to different age groups. The assistance of Rs.1 lakh to those in the age group of 6 to upto the age of 12 years, Rs. 2 lakh above the age of 12 years upto the age of 18 years, Rs. 3 lakh for age above 18 years upto 25 years, Rs. 5 lakh for age over 25 years upto 45 years and Rs. 3 lakh for the age of above 45 years upto the age of 60 years. This benefit also includes the amount received under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) schemes.Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Sh. The Chief Minister further shared that the government has decided to withdraw the cases registered against SC community people.

Divulging more details in this regard, Sh. Manohar Lal said that in the year 2017, an agitation was held in which 54 cases were registered against these people.

“Around 117 were arrested and several were named in the FRIs.  We  have decided that all these cases will be withdrawn, provided the crime is not heinous,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.

Punjab Minister for Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Labour, Investment Promotion and Hospitality, Anmol Gagan Mann said, here, today that a Rs 100 crore project to supply canal water from Kajauli Water Works to Kharar has been approved by the state government and the work will soon be started.  Cabinet Minister who also represents Kharar Constituency in Vidhan Sabha,Anmol Gagan Mann, was here at Municipal Council Office, Kharar, today to listen and resolve the grievances of the residents under flagship program of CM Bhagwant Mann, ‘Sarkar Tuhade Dwar’, further said that tenders for development works worth Rs 46 crore will be floated in the next few days for the development of the city.She said that the problems and issues of Kharar were not resolved in the previous governments due to which the difficulties of the people increased. She said that she is committed to resolve each and every development related problem and will transform it into a clean and beautiful city. She said that the mother child care hospital, recently started by the Chief Minister Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, has gradually improved the health facilities in the area. She said that one such hospital will be ready soon at Kurali too.She further said that the foundation stones for constructing a new bus stand in Kharar were laid many times in the previous regimes but it was not come up, which will now be constructed by existing government. She assured the arrival of a new sewage project soon to solve the problem of drainage water in Kharar city and said that this problem spiked by the mushrooming of colonies in the city and non-installation of STPs. She alos assured to solve the problem of storm water soon. She said that new tubewells and three new grids have been installed to solve the problem of water and electricity. Two new schools of eminence are also being prepared so that the children can get modern education. Apart from this, the work of the Ajj Sarovar is also underway.She listened to the problems of the residents of the city and directed the officials on the spot to provide time-bound solutions. She asked them to establish a control room at the municipal council to redress the problems of the people so that people can lodge their complaints at that control room. She said that she will take care of these complaints’ helpline herself. Showing deep concern, towards cleanliness of the city, she ordered to make proper arrangements for garbage collection.She made it clear that the Bhagwant Mann government has neither lack of money nor deficient in good will and determination for development works. She said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab, she is also committed to redress each and every development related problem of Kharar being a legislator. She said that development works worth crores of rupees have already been done so far and no paucity of funds will be allowed in the future.The Cabinet Minister appealed to the people to play their role in the development of the area by keeping up a close eye on the ongoing works so that all development works can be done as per the prescribed standards. She said that any kind of corruption and negligence will not be tolerated in the development works.On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Damanjit Singh Mann, SDM Kharar Ravinder Singh, other than officials of various departments, MCs of wards of Kharar city and other dignitaries were present.
