Special grant scheme implemented to promote dragon fruit cultivation: ACS Dr Sumita Misra

Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Dr. Sumita Misra, informed that a special grant scheme has been implemented by the government to encourage the cultivation of dragon fruit. Dragon fruit is in great demand in the market. Due to which farmers can take good profits by cultivating this fruit.

        Dr. Sumita Misra informed that there is a provision of grant of Rs. 1,20,000 per acre for dragon fruit orchard. In which Rs. 50,000 is for planting saplings and Rs.70,000 per acre for trawling system. For planting saplings, a grant of Rs. 50,000 will be given in three installments of Rs. 30,000 in the first year, Rs. 10,000 in the second year and Rs. 10,000 in the third year.

        She said that farmers can get good profits by planting more orchards of different kinds of fruit. While establishing orchards saves water, fruit orchards help in increasing the income of the farmers.

Grant facility will be available up to maximum 10 acres

        She said that under this scheme, a farmer can avail the facility of grant of up to a maximum of 10 acres. To get the grant, it is mandatory for the farmers to register on the ‘Meri Fasal-Mera Byora’ portal. She said that the grant will be given on a ‘first come-first serve’ basis. Farmers can take advantage of the scheme by applying on the website of Horticulture Department http://hortnet.gov.in.

PGIMER all set for the Foundation Day being celebrated on July 07

Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh is all set for the upcoming Foundation Day being celebrated tomorrow, 7th July, 2022. Padma Shri Awardee Sh. Ajeet Bajaj has very kindly consented to be the Chief Guest and Ms. Deeya Bajaj will be the Guest of Honour during the Foundation Day celebrations of PGIMER.

Padma Shri Awardee Sh. Ajeet Bajaj and his daughter Deeya Bajaj were the first Indian father daughter duo to climb Mt. Everest. Sh. Ajeet Bajaj completed the Explorer’s Grand Slam on 05 June 2022 while completing the Seven Summits with his daughter Deeya. He is also the first Indian to ski to the North Pole and complete the polar trilogy which entails skiing to the North Pole, South Pole and across the Greenland icecap.

Shri Ajeet Bajaj will deliver an address on “Summiting Mount Everest” to the PGIMER fraternity at 8.00 am in Bhargava Auditorium on the Foundation Day i.e. 7th July, 2022.  

This Foundation Day on 7th July will mark the completion of fifty nine  glorious years of PGIMER’s existence and the Institute’s entry into the milestone 60th year.  Conceived in 1961 with the concurrence of the Planning Commission, the Institute started functioning in 1962. The Institute was formally inaugurated on July 7, 1963 by the then Prime Minister, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. 

Within a short period of 4 years, PGIMER was declared as an “Institute of National Importance” by an Act of Parliament on 1st April, 1967 (Act 51 of 1966). The first batch of postgraduates was admitted in January 1963.

The Institute has 593 faculty members, 277 resident doctors (including sponsored/foreign national categories), out of which 62 Senior Residents have joined recently.  

PGIMER has been the first Institute in the country to initiate many DM and M. Ch courses, as well as the PhD programmes in clinical sciences.  These courses are now available in most of the medical, surgical and paediatric super-specialties.

PGIMER is the only Institute of its kind north of Delhi that caters to a large number of patients. The hospital has 2233 beds and has an OPD attendance of 9-10 thousand patients (approximately) per day.  

As the enormous number of patients is consistently rising every year, to decongest the present hospital there are various plans to add more beds and different types of centres. 

APPOINTMENT LETTERS ON COMPASSIONATE GROUND HANDED OVER TO 11 CANDIDATES IN PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

Following the directions of the Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann for resolving all the cases of employment on compassionate ground at the earliest, the appointment letters have been handed over to 11 candidates in the Department of Public Works, here today. 

Congratulating newly appointed candidates, Punjab Public Works Minister Mr. Harbhajan Singh ETO exhorted them to serve the people of the state with dedication and honestly. These candidates have been given the appointment letters for the posts of grade-3 and 4. With today’s recruitment drive, all the pending cases of appointing grade-4 employees on compassionate grounds in the department, have been approved.

The Cabinet Minister said that the state government was fully committed to provide employment to the youth of the state.

Haryana Police taking significant steps to curtail illicit trade: DIG

Dr Arun Kumar Singh, DIG Haryana Police Academy today said that Haryana Police is taking significant actions to curtail the problem of illicit trade, posing serious hazards to public health and safety.

Addressing the ‘Capacity Building Programme for Police Officers on Prevention of Counterfeiting and Smuggling’, which was organized by FICCI’s Committee Against Smuggling and Counterfeiting Activities Destroying the Economy (CASCADE) at Haryana Police Academy Madhuban (Karnal) , Dr Singh stated that lack of awareness in the society is shaping the dynamics of illicit trade. Imparting knowledge and raising awareness on the ill effects of counterfeiting and smuggling can go a long way to tackle it. He emphasized on the need for such training programmes, which not only sensitizes the officers on the magnitude of the problem but also helps them to understand the intricacies of smuggling and counterfeiting.

While giving an overview on Socio-Economic Impact of Counterfeiting and Smuggling, Deep Chand, Advisor, FICCI CASCADE and Former Special Commissioner of Police, New Delhi said, “The grey market is fuelling illegitimate industry, leading to increased criminalization in the society. This capacity building program is aimed to sensitize the police officers on the importance of continued awareness and seriousness of the impact of counterfeit and smuggled products.” He further stated that as per the recent FICCI CASCADE study, in FY 2018-19, Indian economy loses Rs 1,17,253 crore due to smuggling in the five key sectors and total livelihood opportunities lost is 16.36 lakhs.

We have introduced several initiatives and have put in resources to make its marketplace a reliable and safe platform for customers, brands, and sellers to conduct transactions.” Amazon, he added is committed to promoting and participating in the efforts for ensuring that the consumers are empowered to enjoy the benefits of online shopping while being protected from the risks the digital era may present.

Ashish Sawant, Assistant Manager, Global Brand Protection, APAC Region, Johnson & Johnson stated that counterfeit products have a detrimental impact on both the manufacturers and consumers. It poses severe risk to company’s reputation, brand image and negatively affect the consumers’ confidence in the global market. It also affects businesses and consumers alike by sowing mistrust in genuine products made by reputable brands, he added.

Meanwhile FICCI CASCADE has been over the years working closely with government, industry, enforcement officials, legal fraternity, consumer organizations and the youth to create awareness on the adverse impact of the problem of counterfeiting and smuggling.  Among other activities, FICCI CASCADE has been regularly engaging with law enforcement agencies including police, customs and paramilitary organizations engaged in border protection in sensitizing them on the gravity of the problem.

CABINET MINISTER FAUJA SINGH SARARI ASSUMED CHARGE; VOWS TO BRING ASSIGNED DEPARTMENTS TO NEW HEIGHTS

Punjab Cabinet Minister S. Fauja Singh Sarari today assumed the charge of office as the Minister of Freedom fighter, Defense Services welfare, Food Processing and Horticulture departments in the presence of Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur and S. Harjot Singh Bains, here at Punjab Civil Secretariat.

Bowing head before the Almighty for giving him opportunity to serve the people and expressing gratitude towards towards Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann for reposing faith in him, S. Fauja Singh Sarari said, the Chief Minister S. Bhagwant  Mann led state government is working tirelessly for every section of the society and committed for the welfare of the freedom fighters and ex-servicemen.

“The state government was working hard to further promote the food processing and horticulture sector in State, said Mr. Sarari, adding that he will left no stone unturned to bring the departments, assigned to him, to new heights.

Deputy Commissioners should prepare the data of the entire land of the district as soon as possible: Chief Minister

Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal has directed all the Deputy Commissioners to prepare the complete land data of their respective districts as soon as possible under the Land Bank Policy of the State Government.  Apart from this, directions have also been given to get GIS mapping of the identified land done so that all the data can be made available in digital form.

        The Chief Minister was holding a meeting with the Deputy Commissioners regarding the land bank through video conferencing here today.

        While directing the Deputy Commissioners, Sh. Manohar Lal said that the entire land of the district, whether it is owned by Haryana Government, Gram Panchayat, Board or Corporation and private land, should also be assessed in detail.

        He said that the land mapping being done under Swamitva Yojana, Large Scale Mapping Scheme and drone mapping being done in urban areas should also be completed at the earliest, only then the actual land of the district can be assessed.

        He said that the unutilized land lying with various departments will now come under the government and they wil be made a part of the land bank. The land will be owned by the Haryana government.  The land in the land bank can be easily used for development projects.

Make sure to clean the sewerage and drains

        During the meeting, the Chief Minister while giving directions to the Deputy Commissioners said that the rainy season has just started and the rainy season is going to last for the next two months, which is why cleaning of drains should be ensured to prevent water logging in urban areas.

        Apart from this, wherever the condition of the roads is deteriorating due to rains, repair or patching work should be done continuously so that the general public does not face any kind of problem in traffic.

        The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal, Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. DS Dhesi, Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Sh. Haryana to implement ‘Aatmanirbhar Textile Policy’ to promote textiles, says Dushyant Chautala

In order to promote textiles, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Tuesday said that the state government will soon implement the ‘Haryana Aatmanirbhar Textile Policy 2022-25’ in the state. This policy will help in giving wings to the textile industry in the State and MSMEs will also get a boost. The Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the charge of Industries and Commerce Department, said that the state government is coming up with ‘Haryana Aatmanirbhar Textile Policy 2022-25’ to promote textiles. “It is our endeavour that more and more youth of the state should join MSMEs so that they themselves become employable and are able to provide employment to other youths also, he added.

Chautala said that in the last few years, investors are coming forward to set up industries in the state, as the government has taken several major steps to improve the industrial environment, due to which the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also recognized Haryana for the remarkable work being done in the field of MSME. In this field, where the state has got the third position at the national level, Haryana has also been ranked in the top achievers category in the fifth edition of ‘State Ease of Doing Business’ released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, which is a matter of pride for any state.

He said that Haryana Government’s commitment to provide a conducive ecosystem to the industries has resulted in Haryana getting excellent ranking in Ease of Doing Business, Ease of Logistics and Export Readiness. Apart from this, the state has been ranked first in Export Readiness Index (Land Closed Category)-2021 and second in ‘Logistics is Across Different Status Survey’-2021.

Chautala said that while the State Government is creating employment opportunities through various schemes like the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) launched by the Central Government for entrepreneurship development and employment generation, and Prime Minister’s Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME). Haryana has also extensively taken advantage of various initiatives like formalization of PMFME etc. The activities of these schemes and programmes have been intensified at the grassroot level in the state. There are many effective policies of the state government such as Haryana Enterprises and Employment Policy 2020, MSME Policy 2019, Haryana Agri-Business and Food Processing Policy 2018 etc, he added.

PUNJAB TO FOCUS ON FURTHER  PROMOTING NCC IN SCHOOLS & COLLEGES

Following the instructions of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Mann for providing employment opportunities to the youth of the state in various fields especially in the Indian Army, the state government is focusing on promoting job-oriented National Cadet Corps (NCC) in schools and colleges of the border state.

Considering the NCC as launchpad for career in armed forces and toy magnify the interest of the youth to pursue a career in the Armed Forces, whereas the state government has earmarked Rs.5 crore in recent budget for improving infrastructure and creation of new facilities in NCC units and NCC training centers, it has also approached the Indian Army to boost the NCC activities amongst the youth.

Complying with the instructions of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Education Minister Mr. Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer today called on Lt. Gen. Gurbirpal Singh (AVSM, VSM), DG, NCC Directorate, New Delhi and Major General Rajiv Chhibber (Sena Medal), ADG, NCC Directorate (Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chhattisgarh).

The Minister, while assuring the Army officials for all possible assistance, said that the state government is tirelessly working to improve the infrastructure of NCC units and training centers situated in the State. “In recent budget session, the government has allocated Rs.5 crore for this purpose”, informed the Minister while discussing other technical aspect related to the NCC with the Army officials.

Bhagwant Mann Govt. handed over appointment letters to 16 candidates.

Resolving the long pending problems of the recruitment of 6635 ETT teachers, Bhagwant Mann Government has started the process of issuing  appointment letters to the selected candidates. Under this process Education Minister, Mr. Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayar has handed over appointment letters to 16 candidates.

While handing over the appointment letters at the Punjab Bhawan here, Mr. Hayar appealed to the newly appointed teachers to discharge their responsibilities diligently and seriously. He said that the main objective of the Bhagwant Mann government is to provide quality education to the students and for this the standard of schools would be raised. He said that Maan government has launched a campaign to address the shortage of teachers in the schools. In this regard, special attention will be given to the backward and far-flung  areas. He said that elementary education has a significant contribution to make in the concrete foundation of any child. He asked the newly appointed elementary teachers to fulfill their responsibility with a sense of dedication and commitment to strengthen the base of the children.

On this occasion Mr. Hayar handed over appointment letters to Mandeep, Sukhwinder Singh, Parvinder Kaur, Sonia Kumari, Nancy, Ashish Kumar Verma, Nikhal Kumar, Ruby Verma, Simranjit Kaur, Kuldeep Kaur, Neena, Anchal Kapoor, Arshdeep and Sarabjit Kaur, whereas Pooja Rani and Manan Mehta were not be present at the occasion.

GAURAV YADAV ASSUMES ADDITIONAL CHARGE AS DIRECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE PUNJAB

1992-Punjab batch IPS officer, Gaurav Yadav on Tuesday assumed the additional charge of Director General of Police (Head of Police Force) Punjab.

According to the orders issued by the state government, Gaurav Yadav would also continue to hold the charge of the Special DGP Administration Punjab.

After assuming charge, the newly appointed DGP Punjab held a meeting with the top brass of the Punjab Police and assured them that he will continue to work for the further betterment of the state Police.

The DGP, while briefing officers, said that the topmost priority of the Punjab Government, as directed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is to further strengthen the fight against drugs to make Punjab a drug-free state besides eliminating gangster culture, maintaining law and order, and detection of crime.

He stressed on the need to revive basic policing which includes keeping vigil in vulnerable spots and be always ready to handle any kind of anticipated law and order situation, monitoring crime data, inspections of Police Stations, looking after the welfare of Police Personnel, etc.

DGP Gaurav Yadav also directed all the CPs/SSPs to increase Police Check Points in their respective jurisdictions and ensure the frisking of maximum vehicles at every Naka, which will help in curtailing criminal activities. He also advised that all the Nakas should be synchronized in a manner that they must get activated promptly on a single call. He also directed them to ramp up the drug recoveries.

He also emphasized on the need for capacity building of the Police Stations by upgrading them and making them citizen-friendly besides acquiring new patrolling vehicles and hi-tech equipment for modernization.

While soliciting the support and cooperation of the public, DGP Gaurav Yadav reassured the commitment of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government to eradicate drug menace and Gangsters from the state and push towards peace and harmony of Punjab.

Pertinently, awarded with President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and Police Medal for Meritorious Service, DGP Gaurav Yadav had served the distinction in various challenging capacities in the state.
