Amity University, Gurugram organised two days 18th International Conference on’ AI Revolution: Opportunities, Challenges, and the Path Forward’ to provide a platform to leading academicians, industry experts, policymakers, and students to deliberate on the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in shaping the future. Organised by Amity Business School and the Amity Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics on March 20 and 21, this conference fostered dialogue on AI’s potential, challenges, and ethical considerations.

The conference began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Dr Aseem Chauhan Chancellor, Amity University and other dignitaries, followed by opening remarks from Prof (Dr) Vikas Madhukar, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Amity University Haryana. He emphasized AI’s transformative impact on industries while addressing ethical and governance challenges. Highlighting four key pillars—interdisciplinary learning, AI-driven innovation, ethical AI development, and industry-academia collaboration—he reaffirmed Amity’s commitment to AI education through its Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. Prof Madhukar announced the establishment of 38 student-led startups, including 18 AI-driven ventures, showcasing Amity’s role in fostering entrepreneurial excellence. He also acknowledged Google India and ICEA for their support in AI research and skill development.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof (Dr) PB Sharma, in his welcome address, highlighted AI’s transformative role in education, sustainable development, and societal progress. He emphasized AI as a catalyst for growth, augmenting human intelligence through VR, automation, and knowledge augmentation. Commending Amity University Haryana’s leadership in AI education, he reaffirmed its commitment to democratizing AI learning and driving national progress.

Prof Madhukar further said that the Conference on AI Revolution successfully brought together academicians, industry experts, and policymakers for two days of insightful discussions, technical sessions, and industry-academia collaborations. The conference highlighted AI’s transformative impact across industries, addressing key themes such as ethical AI adoption, data privacy, sustainability, and innovation-driven growth. Through this platform, Amity University Haryana reaffirmed its commitment to advancing AI research, education, and entrepreneurship, ensuring that India remains at the forefront of the global AI revolution. The event fostered actionable strategies and meaningful insights to drive the responsible and impactful adoption of AI across industries and society, Prof Madhukar added.

Industry Perspectives and Corporate Engagement

The inaugural session featured distinguished speakers, including Dr Subi Chaturvedi (Global Senior VP, InMobi), Rajesh Sharma (Executive Director, ICEA), Jeet Vijayvargiya (Member, India AI Mission, MeitY), and Dr. R . Sharma (Member, ONDC & Former CEO, National Health Authority and Former Chairman Telecom Regulatory Authority of India TRAI).

Dr Subi Chaturvedi highlighted AI’s dual nature as both an opportunity and a challenge, urging students to think critically about AI tools like ChatGPT. She commended Amity University Haryana for its integration of AI into academics and stressed AI’s role in climate action, cybersecurity, and financial inclusion, citing AI-driven startups like Niramai (breast cancer screening) and Plantix (crop disease diagnosis) as impactful innovations.

Dr RS Sharma (via virtual session) outlined India’s digital transformation milestones, including Aadhaar, UPI, and ONDC, emphasizing frugal innovation as the key to AI’s scalability and inclusivity. Rajesh Sharma called AI the “mother of innovation”, stressing the need for ethical AI frameworks to ensure fairness and transparency. Jeet Vijayvargiya urged students to move from passive AI consumption to active innovation, aligning AI-driven solutions with societal needs in finance, healthcare, education, and smart cities.

The Corporate Session on AI, moderated by Mohit Kapoor (CEO, Glyphs Technologies), featured insights from Mr. Ashish Singla (NatWest Group) and Mr. Satyajit Dwivedi (Customer Advisory, EMEAP). Discussions covered AI’s role in financial security, smart city development, and career opportunities in AI-driven industries. An interactive Q&A session engaged students in thought-provoking conversations on AI’s ethical implications and its impact on the job market.

Entrepreneurial Innovation: The Ultimate Pitch Challenge 2025

On Day 1, Amity University Haryana successfully hosted The Ultimate Pitch Challenge 2025, providing a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to showcase AI-driven business ideas before an esteemed jury and industry leaders. The event featured innovative pitches in retail automation, fintech, social media moderation, and emergency response.CreateAiGenie emerged as the winner for its AI-powered Amazon ad optimization platform, while Aqua Wings secured second place for its AI-driven water rescue drones. The competition reinforced Amity’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, bridging academia and industry, and empowering young innovators to transform ideas into impactful ventures.

Academic Insights and Technical Sessions

On Day 2, eminent academicians shared insights on AI’s evolving role across various sectors. In a virtual session, Dr. Alp Sungu (University of Pennsylvania) highlighted AI’s transformative impact on education, emphasizing the need for responsible implementation to enhance learning without hindering intellectual growth. Dr. Anand Anandalingham (University of Maryland) discussed AI’s role in healthcare, from reducing medical errors to accelerating drug discovery, while addressing regulatory and ethical challenges. Dr. Ananth V. Iyer (University of Buffalo) introduced the EIAI framework for leveraging AI in business operations, stressing the importance of data accuracy and ethical AI usage. Dr. Jonny O’ Dwyer (Technological University of Shannon) focused on AI ethics, advocating for human-centric, responsible AI development to minimize harm and ensure fairness.

Valedictory Session and Award Ceremony

The Valedictory Session and Award Ceremony showcased Amity University’s leadership in fostering industry-academia collaboration, reinforcing Gurugram’s status as an industrial hotspot for AI-driven innovation. By dedicating a session exclusively to industry leaders and corporates, Amity provided a platform to bridge AI research and real-world applications, facilitating strategic discussions on AI’s transformative role. The ceremony attended by industry leaders and academicians. The ceremony proceeded with the grand award ceremony categorized in two portfolios: The Amity Corporate Leadership Award of Excellence in AI honoring their exceptional achievements and significant impact on advancing AI technologies further celebrating those who have demonstrated visionary leadership and commitment to pushing the boundaries of AI innovation.
