Irrigation Projects worth Rs.1400 lakh sanctioned for Mahendragarh Farmers- Shruti Choudhry

Chandigarh, July 15 – In a significant boost for farmers in South Haryana, Irrigation Minister, Smt.Shruti Choudhry announced the execution of seven irrigation projects worth approximately Rs.1400 lakh for Mahendragarh district. These projects, which were approved with the support of Chief Minister , Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, were officially inaugurated on Tuesday and are expected to facilitate water conservation and pond recharge over more than 3,250 acres across a dozen villages.

Sharing details, Smt.Shruti Choudhry said that projects will be implemented in the villages of Patharwa, Jawaharnagar, and Nangla to promote water conservation. The total expenditure for this project will be Rs.460.13 lakh.This will enable irrigation of approximately 600 acres of farmland in the region.

Additionally, a water storage tank will be constructed in a village  at a cost of Rs.258.63 lakh. The tank will be used for sprinkler irrigation, groundwater recharge, and overall water conservation, benefiting nearly 450 acres of land.

A similar project will be implemented in Dalawas village at a cost of Rs.150.09 lakh. It will also enable sprinkler irrigation, support groundwater recharge, and enhance water availability for crops.

Smt. Choudhry further informed that an HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) pipeline will be laid to channel water from the Madhogarh Distributary to the Madhogarh valley. This project also includes the construction of a pump house and necessary civil work, along with a three-year maintenance plan, all at a cost of Rs. 146.73 lakh. It is expected to recharge groundwater and support irrigation over 650 acres in Madhogarh, Dalawas, and Rajawas villages.

To refill the pond in village Mandhiyali, an RCC pipeline will be laid from the Madhogarh Branch. This Rs.26.02 lakh project will not only benefit local farmers but also help improve the groundwater level in the area.

Another major project includes laying an HDPE pipeline from the Satnali Feeder to refill the pond in village Garhi. This Rs. 237.28 lakh project will utilize overflow water during heavy rainfall to aid irrigation and recharge groundwater in Garhi and Bas villages, benefiting nearly 400 acres.

In a forward-looking move, a project to rejuvenate the Dohan River, which flows through the area of the Central University of Jat-Pali, was also inaugurated today. The project, costing Rs. 121 lakh, will benefit villagers in Jat and Pali, helping to recharge approximately 850 acres of land.

Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini for approving these projects, Minister, Smt. Shruti Choudhry reaffirmed her commitment to supporting farmers. She emphasized that the government remains dedicated to expanding irrigation facilities in drought-prone regions of South Haryana and pledged continued efforts to bring more agricultural land under irrigation.
