Empower Wheelchair Cricket Triangular Series 2026 concludes

Empower Wheelchair Cricket Triangular Series 2026 concluded with the final being played between Uttar Pradesh(UP) and Madhya Pradesh(MP) at Government Model Senior Secondary School- Sector 26’s, Ground in Chandigarh on Sunday. The triangular series was played between three teams – Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh (MP) and Uttar Pradesh (UP). In the final UP defeated MP to lift the trophy. Sharmita Bhinder, Founder of Empower NGO, for special children said, “The tournament provided a meaningful platform for wheelchair cricketers to showcase their determination, passion, and talent.” Notably, the triangular series was organised by Empower NGO in association with Wheelchair Sports Society, and the National Association for the Blind, Chandigarh.
In the final between UP & MP, MP won the toss and elected to bowl. UP put up a formidable target of 168/3 in 10 overs on the board. Amit Bind remained unbeaten with a score of 54*(22) and Jaydev Yadav scored 48 runs off just 20 balls. For MP, Kabir Singh and Arwinder Singh took one (1) wicket each. In reply UP’s bowling attack contained MP batsmen to just 89/1 in 10 overs. Resultantly UP won the match by a huge margin of 79 runs. Jaydev Yadav took one wicket for UP. Jaydev Yadav was declared Man of the Match.
Earlier in the day MP defeated Chandigarh in a league match to enter the final with UP. Chandigarh batting first put up 103/9 in 15 overs. Satnam Singh was the highest scorer for Chandigarh with 23 runs off 12 balls. Jasbir Singh, Praveen Kumar and Arwinder Singh took 2 wickets each for MP. In reply MP made 104/1 in just 7.1 overs to win the match by 9 wickets. Parveen Kumar remained unbeaten with 56*(26). Chandigarh’s Kala Brar took the lone wicket that fell for MP. Parveen Kumar was adjudged Man of the Match.
UP’s Amit Bind was given the title of the tourney’s ‘Best Batsman’ while MP’s Arwinder Singh was adjudged ‘Best Bowler’ of the tournament.
The prize distribution ceremony saw participation of special guests as well as those who supported the tournament in some way or the other. Prominent dignitaries present included a talented wheel chair cricketer – Veer Sandhu, who is also the Founder Member & President of Wheelchair Sports Society; Vivek Atray, IAS (Retired), a well-known motivational speaker & author; Alok Krishan, Treasurer, UTCA; A J Singh, Director, Tynor Orthotics; Amar Kulwant Singh, Vice president (UT) Red Cross; Radha Sinha (Philanthropist); Col Avtar Singh Bhinder(Retd.), Ex-President, Army Defence Brotherhood; Kaljal Mangalmukhi & BJP’s Meena Garg.
