Vishav Ayurved Parishad (VAP) on Sunday celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 in association with National Institute of Ayurveda, Panchkula with a special yoga session centred on the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” (Swasth Aayu ke Liye Yoga) at Sector 22 in Chandigarh.

Dr Geeta Joshi, president of Vishav Ayurved Parishad, Chandigarh Branch (Tri-city) said that this event highlighted the complementary role of Yoga and Ayurveda in promoting preventive healthcare, holistic well-being and healthy lifestyles.

She said, “Participants took part in various yogic practices, including asanas, pranayama and meditation, aimed at improving physical fitness, mental well-being and overall health.”

Joshi emphasised that the combined principles of Yoga and Ayurveda contribute significantly to balanced living, preventive healthcare and healthy ageing while fostering harmony between the body, mind and spirit.

The celebration reaffirmed the enduring relevance of Yoga and Ayurveda in addressing modern health challenges and building a healthier and more balanced society.

The event concluded with participants pledging to adopt Yoga as a way of life and spread awareness about its benefits within their families, workplaces and communities.
