President to gift medical college to Sirsa, will lay foundation stone at a programme in Kurukshetra

The people of Sirsa will get another health bonanza as President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu will lay the foundation stone of Sirsa medical college on Tuesday.

Smt. Droupadi Murmu who will especially be coming to attend International Gita Mahotsav (IGM)-2022 being held at Kurukshetra will lay the foundation stone of this medical college to be built at a cost of about Rs 1090 crore. With the construction of this medical college, the people of Sirsa district and other nearby areas will get state-of-the-art health facilities.  The Manohar-Lal- led Haryana Government is making dedicated efforts to further strengthen the health facilities in the state.

Sharing more information in this regard, an official spokesman said that as envisioned by Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal the Government Medical College, Sirsa is being established with the objective of giving more impetus to medical education and research and to provide best health services to the people of the State.

This 539-bed medical college will be built on about 22 acres and will cost around Rs 1090 crores. The college will have 100 MBBS seats. The college will be only 2.6 kms from Sirsa Railway Station and 1.9 kms from Sirsa Bus Stand.

The spokesperson said that MBBS student and intern hostel block would be made in this medical college. It is proposed that accommodation for 500 students (300 for boys and 200 for girls) and 100 interns will be provided in double seating arrangment in this college. The hostel block will also include facilities like a kitchen and dining, gym, yoga room, recreation room, reading room etc.

There is a proposal to provide accommodation in double sharing to a total of 250 girl students in the Nursing Girls Hostel. A residential facility is proposed in the campus for the Director and Medical Superintendent. Integrated Junior and Senior Resident Hostel Blocks are also proposed to be built in the college premises to provide accommodation to 100 students (50 Senior Residents and 50 Junior Residents).

The spokesperson further informed that this medical college and hospital would provide health services to the state of Haryana and its neighbouring states like Punjab and Rajasthan. Besides this, the college will also have multi-specialty departments such as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology, pharmacology, forensic medicine and toxicology and community medicine. Along with this, the college will also have Emergency Medicine, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, General Surgery, Respiratory Medicine, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, General Medicine, Dermatology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Burn Unit, ICU, PICU, ICC NICU, Jail Ward There will also be ART wards and private wards.

The number of MBBS seats is likely to be increased by more than 3000 after the opening of medical colleges in each district

The spokesperson said that as per the Chief Minister’s announcement regarding the opening of one medical college in every district, the number of MBBS seats is likely to be increased to more than 3000. Besides this, the National Cancer Institute was also inaugurated by the Prime Minister at Badsa in Jhajjar district built at a cost of Rs. 20,347 crore. This 710-bed institute has been built on the lines of the NCI of America.

Meanwhile, the land measuring 189 acres required to construct AIIMS, Rewari has also been purchased and will soon be handed over to the Government of India, informed the spokesperson.

The spokesperson said that the Chief Minister is leaving no stone unturned to further strengthen the health services in the state. Under his dynamic leadership, continuous progress is being made in this field.
