Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal said that corruption will not be tolerated in the state under any circumstances and for this, the government is strengthening the State Vigilance Bureau.At a review meeting here today with the Administrative Secretaries of various departments regarding the action taken report on the cases sent to them by the Vigilance Department, he said that the process of appointing Chief Vigilance Officers (CVOs) was underway. “The departments in which such cases are pending, should ensure that action is taken at the earliest,” he added. The Chief Secretary said that since 2018, 195 cases have been pending in various departments, which are mandatory to be investigated by CVO only. In addition, there are 118 cases pending for action to be taken by the concerned departments on the basis of vigilance bureau reports. He directed all the departments to ensure immediate action on such matters and submit the report to the government; besides disposing of the pending matters from the year 2018.Zero tolerance policy on corruption, goal of state government Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal said that in the last few years, it was seen that some officers used to suppress such cases in the departments and in many cases delayed further action. But in order to root out corruption in the state, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal has constituted a High-Power Committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to review the corruption cases by adopting zero tolerance policy on corruption. The Chief Minister himself also reviews such matters. The Chief Secretary said that as it is a very serious matter, all the departments will have to make tireless efforts to eliminate corruption from the root.Government strengthening Vigilance Department, CVOs and deputy CVOs to be appointedThe Chief Secretary said that the state government is strengthening the Vigilance Department and to investigate cases in the departments; the process of appointing Chief Vigilance Officers is underway. For this, retired IAS officers, officers in central and state services will be engaged. Criteria have been fixed for this and a committee headed by the Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister has been constituted; which will shortlist the officers for the post of CVO, he said. Portal will be developed; departments will be able to upload ATR“Soon a portal would also be developed on which departments would be able to upload an Action Taker Report (ATR). With this, real time data will be available about any action pending in departments and at which level,” he said adding that this would be a state-of-the-art tool with the Administrative Secretaries, through which they can continuously monitor such cases.
