Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal while chairing the key meeting with the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendent of Police held here today reviewed the progress of the Haryana Uday outreach programme.He said that the programme has been launched with the objective of strengthening community relations in the state and bridging the gap between the District Administration, law enforcement agencies and the public.“Public participation is very important in the Uday programme, therefore, under the Community Outreach Programme, the District Administration should organize monthly Jan Samvad in at least one village, Gram Sabha and weekly Gram Utsav programmes. Besides this, officers should ensure maximum public participation in these programmes, said Sh. Manohar Lal.Directing the officers, the Chief Minister said that today the problem of drugs has become a big challenge for society and the Haryana government has resolved to make the state drug-free. In this campaign, the police department should make the youth aware of drug addiction through outreach programmes. In such programmes, people should also be made aware of social issues like Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, environment protection and water conservation, said Sh. Manohar Lal.Sh. Manohar Lal also directed that the District Administration should prepare a detailed outline of the activities to be organized in the district under the Haryana Uday Outreach Programme and special attention should be paid to increasing people’s participation in it. He said that all the activities being conducted under the Haryana Uday Outreach Programme should be ensured to be uploaded on the portal as well.The Chief Minister further directed that schools should also be linked with the Haryana Uday Outreach Programme. For this, cultural programmes, and other educational activities can be organized at the school level. Along with this, various sports competitions should also be organized for the children in coordination with the sports department, said Sh. Manohar Lal.The Chief Minister was apprised that under the community policing and outreach programme, various programmes including village/area Samvad programme, pond cleaning with public participation, music, art and poetry competitions in schools/mohalla sports leagues, tree plantation drives, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan etc are being organized.Besides this, programmes like Raahgiri, Cyclothon, sports competitions in villages, awareness campaigns for drug abuse, old age care and police Pathshala etc. are being organized by the Police under the Community Policing Programme.Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. D.S Dhesi and Special Officer (Community Policing and Outreach Programme) Sh. Pankaj Nain also remained present in the meeting.
