Centre gives permission to purchase 2.5 lakh metric tons of millet at MSP, says Hry CM

Giving a big relief to the farmers, Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that the state government will give compensation at the rate of Rs 7000 per acre to the farmers who have to re-sow paddy again due to heavy rains and floods during July 2023.

        The Chief Minister was addressing a press conference here today. Mines and Geology Minister, Sh. Mool Chand Sharma and Urban Local Bodies Minister, Dr. Kamal Gupta were present on this occasion.

        He said that the government has launched the e-Kshatipoorti portal to compensate for the loss of property, livestock or human loss due to rains, floods and riots. Applications have been invited from people for details of the loss. After verification by the regional officers of the Revenue Department, compensation will be paid through DBT as per the prescribed norms.

        He said that the government has also run the Mera Paani – Meri Virasat Scheme, under which an incentive amount of Rs 7000 per acre is given to the farmers who grow other crops instead of paddy. Therefore, those farmers whose paddy has been affected due to rain and flood and who have resown any other crop in place of paddy will be given money under this scheme.

        Sh. Manohar Lal said that under the Mera Pani-Meri Virasat scheme, the government has appealed to the farmers to cultivate other crops instead of paddy so that water can be conserved. This scheme is voluntary and the government has set a target of 1 lakh acres of area every year.

        Answering another question, Sh. Manohar Lal said that the government closely monitoring the situation on the price of millet and accordingly the state government will give money to the farmers under the Bhavantar Bharpayee Scheme. Earlier too, the government has given Rs 600 and Rs 450 Bhavantar to the farmers under the Bhavantar Bharpai. However, now the Central Government has given permission to purchase 2.5 lakh metric tonnes of millet at MSP.

        Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. Rajesh Khullar, Additional Chief Secretary, and Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Sh. TVSN Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary, Housing for All Department, Sh. Raja Shekhar Vundru, Additional Chief Secretary, Mines and Geology Department, Sh. Arun Gupta, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. V Umashankar, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and Director General, Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture Department, Dr. Amit Agrawal, Chief Administrator, Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran, Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, Director, Consolidation of Land Holdings and Land Records, Ms. Amna Tasneem and other officers also remained present on this occasion.
