Haryana Director General of Police, Shatrujeet Kapur today , revealed a notable decrease in criminal incidents throughout the state for the year 2023.”. He highlighted notable reductions in thefts, dacoities, robberies, snatchings, and, importantly, crimes against women. This positive trend reflects the proactive efforts of the Haryana Police to ensure public safety and security. Furthermore, the Haryana Police’s Saral Seva Kendras achieved a commendable 100% rating for the quality of services provided. These centers offer citizens convenient access to various police services, such as passport verification, character certificates, and license renewals. The high score signifies the department’s commitment to efficient and citizen-centric service delivery. Significant Decline in Crime Rates: Addressing a press conference at the police headquarters in Panchkula, Kapur reported a 28.9% decrease in dacoity cases compared to last year. He further highlighted an 18.1% reduction in robbery cases, a 3.9% drop in snatching incidents, and varying decreases in crimes against women, including kidnappings (7.2%), rape (6.9%), molestation (7.9%), dowry deaths (9.5%), and dowry harassment (8.4%).
Advanced Feedback Mechanism for Increased Satisfaction: Kapur emphasized the establishment of a feedback cell to ensure complainant satisfaction. “Through this cell,” he stated, “we maintain complete transparency, record all calls, and supervise the process to uphold its quality.” This initiative has boosted the state’s satisfaction rate to 71%, with over 99% expressing contentment with the online police services.
Priority to Women’s Safety: Kapur underscored women’s safety as a top concern for the Haryana Police. Special teams, comprising four female officers each, have been trained by a Gurugram-based voluntary organization. Additionally, unique identification numbers have been affixed to 71% of all autos and cabs in Haryana, with full implementation in eight districtswhile more than 99 percent people have given their feedback and registered their satisfaction with the online services of the police department.
Integrated Helpline Services and Reduction in Response Time: TRecognizing the need for better emergency response coordination, Haryana has added 139 ambulances and 333 fire vehicles to 112 . Similarly, it has been successfully integrated with various critical services including disaster management, women and child development and cyber helpline. This integration has yielded impressive results, reducing police response time to approximately 8 minutes and 5 seconds. Over 630 emergency response vehicles and 33 Durga Shakti vehicles are now seamlessly connected to this integrated platform, further enhancing response. Additionally, Trip Monitoring System has been launched by Haryana Police to provide an additional layer of safety to women while traveling at night.Cracking Down on Cybercrime and Strengthening Security: “With a proactive approach towards cybercrime, the Haryana Police have witnessed a significant increase in the resolution of cyber fraud cases. As a result, within 4-5 hours of a cyber fraud incident, the percentage of held funds has risen to 70%, resulting in the recovery of approximately Rs 74 crore. Furthermore, rupees have been saved. Similarly, the percentage of funds held in cyber fraud incidents increased to 29% in November 2023, up from just 10% in January. Additionally, 4,11,534 citizens have received assistance through the cyber helpline. DGP Kapoor stated that this year, 61,493 mobile numbers linked to cybercriminals were blocked. Moreover, 1,36,347 bank accounts associated with cybercriminals were frozen. Through awareness programs, 21,25,671 individuals have been educated about cybersecurity.”,he added.Strict Action Against Drug Smuggling
DGP Kapur stated that 3,757 cases were registered under the NDPS Act, leading to the arrest of 5,350 criminals and the seizure of a significant quantity of illegal drugs. He emphasized decisive action against habitual offenders; 45 of them have already been sentenced to one year in jail under the PIT NDPS, with further actions against others underway. Additionally, 449 gangs and 378 individuals on the most-wanted list have been apprehended. From January 1 to November 30 of this year, 7,340 POs and 4,970 bail jumpers have been arrested, bringing the total to 12,310 apprehensions in the state.To deter youth from drug use, sports activities are being collaboratively organized by police officers, athletes, ex-servicemen, and villagers in various districts, ensuring that the youth’s energy is directed positively.In Haryana, a total of 85 law and order companies have been established, receiving high-level training. Additionally, 53 SWOT teams have been formed. Furthermore, three teams have been deployed in Hisar, Ambala, and Madhuban for disaster management.”Meaningful Steps Taken for Road Safety:Using iRED, the state has identified accident-prone black spots, and efforts are underway with concerned authorities and IIT Madras to enhance the engineering solutions for these areas. Furthermore, Haryana Police has drafted a proposal to offer free medical treatment to individuals injured in road accidents within the first 48 hours.Haryana Police’s Efforts for Policemen’s Welfare:With the convenience of police school students preparing for competitive exams in mind, e-libraries are being established in various districts. Progress on setting up these e-libraries is underway in Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Karnal, and Bhiwani. Additionally, an e-library has been inaugurated in Sonipat district. To ensure the well-being of children belonging to Haryana’s female police personnel, CRASH centers have been initiated in 15 districts, with plans to introduce CRASH in six more districts soon.Beware: Liking Criminal Posts on Social Media:Mr. Kapur highlighted that the Haryana Police closely monitors individuals who engage with criminal content on social media platforms. Special teams in each district actively engage with and counsel individuals who like or share such posts. IG Ambala, Sibash Kaviraj, and SP Cyber, Amit Dahiya, were also present during the press conference.
