Haryana’s wrestlers gave a stellar performance in the ongoing 36th National Games in Gujarat. A total of 9 medals were at stake in the wrestling matches today, out of which Haryana players secured 6 medals for the state. Players won 3 Gold, 2 Silver, and 1 Bronze medals.
Daughters of Haryana showed their strength
Haryana’s daughters showed their robust performance in the wrestling matches held on Sunday and won two gold medals for Haryana. In the 53 kg weight category, Haryana’s anteem won the gold medal by defeating Priyanshi Prajapat of Madhya Pradesh. At the same time, Mansi of Haryana won the gold medal by defeating Neetu of Chandigarh in the 57 kg weight category freestyle wrestling.
Apart from this, Satish of Haryana won the gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling in the 130 kg weight category. Similarly, Sagar of Haryana made the state proud by winning a silver medal in the 74 kg weight category freestyle wrestling and Vikas in the 60 kg weight category Greco-Roman wrestling.
Apart from these, Sanjeet of Haryana won a bronze medal in freestyle wrestling in the 86 kg weight category.
Games will continue till October 12
In the 36th National Games, sports teams from Haryana and the Indian Armed Forces are witnessing tough competition. The players and coaches of Haryana are hoping that Haryana becomes the overall champion of these games which will continue till October 12, 2022.
The sports included in these games are Aquatics, Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Beach Sports, Boxing, Canoeing, Cycling, Fencing, Football, Golf, Gymnastics, Hockey, Judo, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Lawn Ball, Mallakhamba, Netball, rowing, rugby sevens, shooting, soft tennis, softball, squash, table tennis, tennis, triathlon, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, wushu, and yoga.
