President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu has commended the State government led under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal for rightly implementing Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao Abhiyan, Mhara Gaon-Jagmag Gaon and Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Parivar Utthan Yojana for economically weaker families in Haryana. While commending the state government’s initiatives towards inclusive development, Smt. Droupadi Murmu stated that Haryana has emerged as a leading state on many parameters in comparison with other states.
Smt. Droupadi Murmu was addressing at the civic reception organized in her honour by the state government at Haryana Raj Bhavan today. Haryana Governor, Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya, Punjab Governor and Administrator of Union Territory Chandigarh, Sh. Banwarilal Purohit, Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala and Haryana Assembly Speaker, Sh. Gian Chand Gupta were also present on the occasion. .

The President stated that the efforts being made under the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign is the most commendable work of Haryana. She said that remarkable journey of progress to reach the sex ratio of 913 as compared to 871 in the year 2014 is highly appreciable. She added that the approach towards ensuring equal representation to women in Panchayats is a very effective means of women empowerment. She is delighted that the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Empowerment Award presented by the Government of India is awarding the District Panchayat of Sonipat and the Gram Panchayat of Madanheri in the Karnal district. She said that the daughters of Haryana had brought laurels to the state and to India. On November 30, Seema Punia, Anshu, and Sarita, three daughters of Haryana, will be honoured during the National Sports Awards distribution function at Rashtrapati Bhavan, She added.
Haryana is the centre of India’s oldest civilization
Smt. Droupadi Murmu referred to Haryana as the “land of gods and heroes,” noting that it served as the centre of India’s oldest civilisation. Haryana was blessed by Saraswati, the most important river of the Vedic period. She appreciated the Haryana Government for setting up the Haryana Saraswati Heritage Development Board for creating awareness about Saraswati Heritage and for its conservation.

She said that Haryana is one of the frontline states in agriculture as well as in the industrial sector. Haryana is the leading state in the production of automobiles and in terms of per capita income, Haryana is also included in the first 5 states and union territories. She said that on the basis of less than 1.4 percent of the country’s area and less than 2 percent of the population, Haryana has been contributing a lot in the overall development of the country. The brave soldiers of Haryana have made exceptional contributions to the security of the borders. General Deepak Kapoor, General Dalbir Singh Suhag, and General V.K. Singh, who have all made significant contributions to the army, hails from Haryana.
Speaking on the occasion, Haryana Governor, Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya said that the progress of a society depends on the progress achieved by women in that society. He said that President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu has always brought the message of Shrimad Bhagwad Gita to life in a real sense. She is the epitome of rigorous devotion, sacrifice, penance, action and selfless service.
He said that for the first time in 75 years of independence, a woman representing the tribal society in the country holding the highest position is a matter of pride for the country. It is a matter of great joy for 50 percent of the country’s population, that is, women. She is now seen as a representative of the poor, Dalits, and tribal communities.
The Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, Sh. Banwarilal Purohit said that today is an important day for Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh as well as for the entire nation. He said that the entire life of President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu was a struggle and even after occupying the highest position of the President, she did not forget her roots. He said that he has complete faith that the Constitution of India and the nation will be completely safe in her hands.
