Today, an inaugural function of Chandigarh Police’s first “15th All India Police Badminton Championship 2022-23” was held in full enthusiasm at Tiranga Park, Sector-17, Chandigarh. Sh. Dharampal, IAS, Advisor to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest at the function. Sh. Parveer Ranjan, IPS, DGP, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Raj Kumar Singh, IPS, IGP/UT, Sh. Deepak Purohit, IPS, DIG/UT, Ms. Manisha Chaudhary, IPS, SSP/Security & Traffic and UT, Sh. Manoj Kumar Meena, IPS, SSP/Head Quarters and other senior police officers and members of All India Police Sports Control Board Sh. Surinder Mahajan, Secretary, Chandigarh Badminton Association, Sh. Sanjeev Sachdeva, Chief National Coach, India,Rajeev Tuli, Badminton Coach, Chandigarh Sports Department,Vishal Mehta, Badminton Coach, Ravi Singh, Chief Rafree were present on this occasion. A march past along with 37 teams particpants was held with melodious symphonies of Chandigarh Police Band which also gave the blended musical performance.
Appreciating the efforts of Chandigarh Police, The Chief Guest on the occasion Sh. Dharampal, Advisor to the Administrator said, “He was very happy to be the part of inauguration function and such Police duty meets serve a very important purpose to promote mutual understanding and sportsmanship to commemorate the glorious History of People and culture of India. Fitness is integral to Police forces, which makes sports of a special significance to all the police forces of the country. All participants will take a pleasant memory back to their states of the tournament, Chandigarh Police and Chandigarh as a whole. The discipline, team spirit, fitness and mental alertness of a sportsperson are the essential qualities of a good policemen. The Chief Guest expressed gratitude towards all the Police Organizations in the country who have sent most excellent players to participate in this prestigous Badminton Championship.
Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Parveer Ranjan gave the welcome speech and extended warm welcome to the Chief Guest Sh. Dharam Pal, IAS, Advisor to the Administrator UT, Chandigarh Administrator, Senior Police officers from the different Police organizations of the Country, Team Managers, Participants, Organizers, and other distinguished guests and expressed gratitude on behalf of the force for sharing his valuable time to encourage the sportsmen. On the occasion, the DGP/UT underlined that Badminton is a much admired sport which requires strength, endurance, as well as mental capabilities, which lead to self discipline and healthy lifestyle.
This is the first time ever that Chandigarh Police is holding a Championship to provide an opportunity to police personnel to showcase their skills in the field of Badminton. In this Championship, 37 Teams from 24-States, 5-UTs and 8-CPOs with the total 519-participants i.e 216-GOs, 123-NGOs and 178-ORs including women GOs-32, NGOs-26 and ORs-64 are participating with huge gaiety. Chandigarh Police has made all necessary arrangements for the guest players coming from other state for participation
