A Continuing Medical Education (CME) on “Challenges in Hospital Acquired Infections” isbeing organized by the Department of Medical Microbiology, on 25th February 2023 at the Bhargava Auditorium, PGIMER, Chandigarh.
Hospital acquired infections (HAIs) are still a major cause of morbidity and mortality among patients admitted in the hospital. Even after the availability of antibiotics and therapeutic advancements, the HAIs remain a great challenge to clinical medicine. Considering the current status, incorporating preventive and early diagnostic measures along with novel approaches like integrating biomarkers and genomics have become a prime necessity.
This CME is an initiative taken by the Dept. of Medical Microbiology, to apprise the participants about the challenges in the HAIs. The academic sessions will be focusing on challenges in the HAI surveillance, antifungal stewardship and controlling Candida auris out breaks in hospitals.
This CME will also provide overview on role of molecular diagnostics in prevention of HAIs. Expert faculty including microbiologists, infectious disease specialists, intensivists, infection prevention personnel and clinicians from various specialties will be deliberating on topics like faecal microbiota transplant, diagnostic stewardship and biomedical waste management. A quiz and an interesting debate on “Whether Artificial Intelligence will take over Infection control” is also one of the many attractions of this CME.
An estimated 300 delegates are expected to attend the CME, with sessions presented and attended by microbiologists and clinicians from various specialties all over India.
The delegates will be awarded 3 CME credit points by the Punjab Medical Council for attending the program.
