Haryana Police have arrested two Rajasthan-based persons for allegedly duping a Sonipat resident for Rs 11.40 lakh by sending a fake WhatsApp link on the mobile phone.
Police has also recovered three laptops, 25 mobile phones, 46 mobile SIM, 16 cheque books, 21 ATM cards, 49 loose cheques of different bank accounts, 12 mobile chargers and other documents from their possession.
Sharing the information here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that the arrest was made by a police team of Sonipat after a complaint was lodged in October 2022 by the Sonipat resident, who was allegedly duped of Rs 11.40 lakh.
As per the complaint, unknown persons sent a link on complainant’s WhatsApp in the name of Foreign Exchange Trading. Later it was asked to open an account in the name of Online Trading. During this, the accused fraudulently withdrew Rs 11.40 lakh from the victim’s account. A case was registered in Cyber police station, Sonipat.
Acting on the complaint, a police team nabbed the accused identified as Aadesh and Ankit, both residents of Rajasthan. Two accused Dharambir and Pukhraj involved in the fraud had already been arrested.
Arrested accused Aadesh has been produced in the court and sent to judicial custody as per the orders of the court. Another accused Ankit has been taken on police remand for 10 days as per the court orders. Further investigation of the case is underway.
