‘PCSK9 the most recent prognostic marker for cardiac diseases’

Addressing the gathering during three-day Ayurveda festival at Shri Dhanwantri Ayurvedic College and Hospital Sector 46, Chandigarh, Dr Alka Goyal (MD Biochemistry), senior resident in Government Medical College and Rajindra Hospital Patiala, on Tuesday said that PCSK9 (Proprotein Covertase Subtilisin/Kevin type 9) is the most recent prognostic marker for cardiac diseases.

“Its inhibitors are evolocumab, alirocumab are under trial for the most advanced treatment to reduce the severity of cardiac diseases,” she added.
