Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal conducted a surprise inspection of grain market at Karnal’s Gharaunda and reviewed the wheat procurement arrangements. He expressed satisfaction over the procurement arrangements and gave necessary instructions to the officers. Directing the officials that farmers should not face any kind of problem in the mandi, the Chief Minister said that every grain of the farmers’ crop would be bought by the government and payment would be made in the bank accounts of the farmers within the stipulated time period. He also interacted with the farmers who reached the mandi with their crops and inquired about the crop loss due to rains and hailstorms. MLA, Sh. Harvinder Kalyan was also present on the occasion. Notably, the procurement of wheat, barley and gram has started in the state from April 1, 2023. On the other hand, the procurement of mustard has started from March 20. Various administrative secretaries have been deputed as in-charge of the districts by the government to ensure smooth, seamless and hassle-free conduct of the procurement process. The procurement is being done by procurement agencies viz. Food Supply, HAFED, HWC and FCI in various mandis. The state government has opened 408 mandis/purchase centres for wheat, 103 mandis/purchase centres for mustard, 25 mandis for barley and 11 mandis/purchase centres for gram.
