A mock drill to assess the preparedness to manage COVID-19 was conducted on April 10th and 11th, 2023, in Haryana as per directions and guidelines by Government of India (GoI). Giving more information in this regard an official spokesperson informed that “The key objective of the drill was to ensure operational readiness for the management of COVID-19 with specific focus on availability of equipment like oxygen plants, ventilators, other logistics, and skilled human resources in public and major private hospitals. The observations generated through this exercise will help in finding the major gaps and to take necessary action. He stated that as a result of well-coordinated efforts by all the stakeholders an improvement was significantly observed in the number of health facilities participating in Mock drill from 766 in December, 2022 to 901 in April, 2023. He said that Data will be analysed by the department to further argue the health care facilities for improving systems for COVID-19 management or other such outbreak situations. He further stated that overall activity was conducted under the leadership of Health Minister, Sh. Anil Vij. Public and private health facilities including medical colleges in all the districts were oriented regarding mock drill by the State Surveillance Unit, Haryana under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department, Smt. G. Anupama, Director General Health Services, Dr. Sonia Trikha and MD, NHM oriented the districts regarding GOI guidelines and motivated the workers to conduct this exercise meticulously to ensure improvement in systems.
