Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala said that ‘Aapda Mitra’ will be made in all the villages of the state, who would work as volunteers in times of disaster, soon a portal will be started to register them.This information was given by the Deputy CM, who also holds the charge of Revenue and Disaster Management Department, after attending the meeting of the Ministers of Disaster Management Department of all the states and UTs, chaired by Union Home Minister, Sh. Amit Shah, in New Delhi today.Additional Chief Secretary of Disaster Management Department, Sh. Rajesh Khullar also participated in the meeting along with the Deputy Chief Minister.While interacting with the media after the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister said that in the year 2014, the central government had sent a manual related to disaster management to all the states, It addressed a number of issues, many of which the Haryana government has already addressed, the rest will be finished by December 2023. He informed that committees of the State Disaster Management Board will be constituted at district and village level.He informed that Rs. 1,100 crores has been sanctioned this year to provide relief in times of possible calamities like flood and drought, while provision of Rs. 500 crores and Rs. 300 crores was made per year respectively in previous years. He informed that plans are being made to drain the areas where water gets filled due to rain and to pour water into canals etc., so that neither crops nor other lives and property are harmed.Sh. Dushyant Chautala informed that the state government is being alerted by sending messages through mobile etc. before a possible disaster. This year also messages related to heavy rains, strong storms etc. have been sent to the people of the state in advance.He informed that the Central Government has informed today that technology has been invented to predict fire due to lightning, Haryana government is also going to implement this technology soon in the state, due to which loss of life and property will be avoided.He informed that in today’s meeting, the Home Minister has been requested by the State Government to set up a battalion of the National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) in Hisar so that help can reach immediately in case of any disaster. Haryana Government has also given training to 260 IRB jawans of National Disaster Response Force.Sh. Dushyant Chautala said that he requested the Central Government to set up a joint command centre for Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh in Chandigarh so that the forecast of the upcoming earthquake in the Kangra-seismic belt could be made. He has also requested the Central Government to include the subject related to disaster management in school and university curriculum under the new National Education Policy.
