Today Irrigation & Water Resources Department Haryana organised a State Level Training of line departments under Atal Bhujal Yojna at Red Bishop Complex, Sector-1, Panchkula, Haryana. The training was inaugurated by Engineer-In-Chief (EIC), Irrigation & Water Resources Department Haryana, Dr. Satbir Singh Kadian. More than 50 Officers/officials from line departments i.e., Forest Department, Haryana, Pond and Waste Water Management Authority, Horticulture Department Haryana, CGWB , MICADA, Public Health Engineering Department Haryana, Development & Panchayats Department Haryana, Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare Department Haryana, I&WRD Haryana attended the training.
During the inaugural speech, Dr Kadian put a global picture of ground water status, availability and management, he gave best practices of Mexico, Israel, Singapore, etc. regarding efficient use of water resources. He has also highlighted the achievements maid by the department under “Mera Panni Meri Virasat” campaign. He has expressed his serious concerned to stop water wastage, especially in rural areas and promoted judicially use of ground water.
Dr. Satbir Singh Kadian shared that Atal Bhujal Yojana is a groundwater management scheme launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi on the 95th birth anniversary of Hon’ble former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on 25th December 2019. It is one of the flagship programmes of Govt. of India. The purpose of the scheme is to arrest the decline in groundwater levels and improve groundwater management by involving communities and line departments. Further, he shared that the main objective of this training is to sensitize the Government officials about Atal Bhujal Yojna, scope of convergence and role & responsibilities of line departments to achieve measurable outcomes under this scheme. He requested all the departments to understand the convergence matrix and extend best possible support for making this scheme a grand success in the State of Haryana. He put emphasis that everyone is responsible for water management and we should at as ambassador for this. Together we can do ground water management with the positive support of line departments present in this state level workshop.
Er. Pramod Jain, Superintending Engineer Atal Bhujal Yojana welcomed the Chief Gust Dr Satbir Singh Kadian and all the officers from the line departments and shared the objectives of State Level Training program briefly.
Er Mandeep, Executive Engineer, Atal Bhujal Yojana Haryana briefed about the status, efforts and progress made under Atal Bhujal Yojana till date and overall outlay of Atal Bhujal Yojana in the state. He said we are working together with the support of line departments and community participation.
During the first half, topics such as objectives of Atal Bhujal Yojana, Best Practices, Water Security Plan and Science of Watershed etc. were discussed whereas, in the post lunch session topics like Behaviour Change Communication, Convergence & Inter Departmental Coordination etc. were discussed in detail. During these sessions, participants were engaged by organizing various interactive/group activities.
