As per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Vijay N Zade, Chief Electoral Officer, UT Chandigarh, with the representatives of political parties regarding the final publication of electoral roll with respect to the January 1, 2024.
A copy of the final electoral roll was provided to the representatives of political parties in the form of DVDs. Zade requested all the representatives of political parties to verify all electors’ names, and in case they find anyone’s name missing, they may fill out Form 6 to add the name to the electoral roll. Sh. Zade also requested all the representatives of political parties to verify those areas where a large number of Labour voters reside and check their vote status; in case they are not enrolled, they may file Form 6 by providing the address proof or Form 7 in case any voter left the city.
Furthermore, Sh. Zade requested all political party representatives to verify the names of VIP or celebrity voters in their areas. Sh. Zade further requested all the representatives to inform them of any infrastructure problems they witnessed in all the 614 polling stations set up in General Election to Lok Sabha 2024 and requested all the representatives to promote the message of enrollment to everyone, including the Labour voters, third-gender voters, PwD voters, and female voters in each and every segment. Also, about the facility provided to 80+ senior citizen voters: Sh. Vinay Pratap Singh, IAS, Deputy Election Officer, U.T., Chandigarh, informed all the representatives about the ongoing EVM demonstration campaign around the city, where two vans are carrying the EVM machine, through which citizens may experience real-time voting through EVM.
All the representatives were provided the two-month schedule of the EVM demonstration van and requested to provide information where they find the EVM demonstration camp may be organised. All the representatives were also requested to appoint booth-level agents at polling stations to verify the voter list. All the representatives of the political parties were satisfied with the meeting and ensured to verify the roll and provide all the necessary cooperation in terms of enrolling any left-out voters.
Further, Sh. Vijay N. Zade requested that all citizens verify their names on the electoral roll by visiting ceochandigarh.gov.in, the voter portal, or the Voter Helpline App. Citizens may check their names on the electoral roll by downloading the Voter Helpline App or through the Voter Portal in the “search your name in the electoral roll” option. They just need to fill out their EPIC number, and they may learn about the status. Also, citizens may fill out Form 6 to enrol in the electoral roll through the Voter Helpline App or voter portal, or simply hand over the form to their respective Booth Level Officer.
