The work of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant in Yamunanagar, with a capacity of 800 megawatts, to commence soon. This project will help ensure uninterrupted power supply for the citizens of Haryana.
Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal while chairing the meeting of High Powered Works Purchase Committee (HPWPC) held late last evening gave the approval for allocating the tender for the construction of the new 800-megawatt capacity Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant in Yamunanagar to Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) at a cost of Rs 6,900 crore. BHEL will complete this project within a period of 57 months. Energy Minister, Sh. Ranjit Singh also remained present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the officers of Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited (HPGCL) apprised the Chief Minister that this plant will have an ultra-supercritical unit installed, whereas so far only sub-critical units have been installed. It has 8 percent more capacity than the previously installed units. This will reduce coal consumption and make electricity cheaper. Provision has also been made to install all devices to control pollution.
Additional Chief Secretary, Energy Department, Sh. Apoorva Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. V. Umashankar, Chairman, Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited, Sh. P.K. Das, Managing Director, Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited, Sh. Mohammed Shayin and other senior officers were also present at the meeting.
