Chandigarh, May 6*:- In a significant step towards improving the city’s water supply system, Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has streamlined MC’s operational structure by assigning area-wise responsibilities to its engineering staff. Under this initiative, Junior Engineers (JEs) and Sub-Division Engineers (SDEs) have been given designated duties for specific sectors and localities across Chandigarh.
While speaking about the assignment, the Commissioner said that this move aims to ensure better accountability and quicker response times for all water-related issues, including complaints, maintenance, and the requirement of water tankers. By making individual staff members responsible for defined areas, the Municipal Corporation seeks to enhance service delivery and ensure that residents face minimal inconvenience during water supply disruptions.
Residents are encouraged to contact their respective area’s assigned JE or SDE for any water-related concerns. This structured approach is expected to bring greater transparency, efficiency and reliability in addressing the city’s water management needs.
