Chandigarh, June 20, 2025:
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, organized a two-day regional workshop on June 19–20 at Hotel Mountview, Chandigarh. The event focused on reviewing the implementation of the Energy Conservation and Sustainable Building Code (ECSBC) and assessing the progress of energy efficiency initiatives across states and union territories.
The workshop brought together officials from various states, technical experts, and policymakers. It was held in collaboration with the State Designated Agency of UT Chandigarh – the Energy Management Cell.
BEE Director P. Samal stated that adopting ECSBC in new buildings can lead to up to 35% electricity savings. “Energy conservation is the need of the hour. Sustainable building codes not only benefit the environment but also offer long-term economic advantages,” she said.
Chief Engineer C.B. Ojha also appreciated the efforts of the states and UTs and emphasized the importance of keeping energy efficiency a national priority.
The workshop included technical sessions discussing current implementation challenges, possible solutions, and best practices from across the country.
The event aligns with the “LiFE – Lifestyle for Environment” mission, marking a significant step toward a greener and more energy-efficient India.
