In a major move to transform the city’s urban mobility and parking landscape, the Chandigarh Parking Committee convened a key meeting today under the chairpersonship of Smt. Harpreet Kaur Babla.
The meeting was attended by the sub committee chairman Sh. Saurabh Joshi, Smt. Jaswinder Kaur, Sh. Umesh Ghai, Sh. Dilip Sharma, Sh. Rajinder Sharma, Smt. Darshana, Sh. Anil Masih, Sh. Manaur, Smt. Anju Katyal, Sh. Lakbir Singh, Smt. Sarbjeet Kaur, Sh. Gurpreet Singh Gabi, Sh. Dharmendra Singh, Sh. Jasmanpreet Singh, Dr. Ramneek Bedi, Sh. Jasbir Singh Bunty, Smt.Taruna Mehta, Smt. Prem Lata, Sh. Yogesh Dhingra, Sh. Kanwarjeet Singh, Sh. Damanpreet Singh, Smt. Mohinder Kaur, Sh. Sachin Galav, Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh Sidhu, Sh. Manoj Sonkar and concerned officers of MCC.
The Committee proposed the implementation of a Smart AI-Based Parking Project across 89 key locations in Chandigarh. This forward-looking initiative aims to address increasing parking challenges, ease traffic congestion, and offer a seamless and citizen-centric parking experience through state-of-the-art technology.

Dedicated Spaces for Persons with Disabilities
EV Charging Stations at Multiple Sites
Valet Parking Services at Select Locations
Energy-Efficient Lighting and Infrastructure
Emergency Features including SOS Alerts and Dedicated Lanes
The Committee emphasized the importance of public participation and sought inputs from all councillors to refine the project further. The initiative supports the city’s commitment to smart governance, sustainability, and inclusivity, and aims to set a benchmark in modern urban mobility solutions.
It was decided during the meeting that the final draft of the Smart Parking Project will be presented in the upcoming General House meeting for final approval. The project aligns with Chandigarh’s vision of smart, sustainable, and secure urban development.
