Chandigarh, July 15 – Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister, Sh. Vipul Goel said that the state has achieved a proud milestone in the field of cleanliness. In the Swachh Survekshan 2024–25, Karnal and Sonipat have been selected for national honours. The award ceremony will take place on July 17 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, and Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal will present awards in various categories. Haryana will be represented by Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini and ULB Minister Sh. Vipul Goel.

Sh. Goel said that Karnal has earned a spot among the top 15 cleanest cities in the country, a proud moment for the entire state. Sonipat will be honoured with the prestigious Ministerial Award for cleanliness. These recognitions reflect Haryana government’s consistent commitment and innovative efforts in taking forward Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi’s vision of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Sh.Nayab Singh Saini and Urban Local Bodies Minister, Sh. Vipul Goel, the state has focused on public awareness, use of new technology, and strong on-ground execution to make the cleanliness drive impactful. In the recent state budget for 2025–26, plans were made to equip all municipalities and councils with modern machines such as vacuum suckers, tree trimmers, shredding machines, sweeping vehicles, patchwork machines, and water sprinkling units. The proper use of these tools has played a big role in improving the sanitation standards in Haryana.
Over the last 10 years, Haryana has scientifically processed around 69 lakh metric tonnes of waste out of 101 lakh metric tonnes from 75 old dumping grounds. Through this, 109 acres of land has been reclaimed and is now being developed into green zones, parks, and community spaces.
Sh. Goel recently visited NTPC’s Green Coal Plant in Varanasi. Inspired by the model, he said that the state plans to set up similar plants in Haryana. These facilities will help convert daily solid waste from cities like Faridabad and Gurugram into 400–500 tonnes of green coal, leading to better waste management, environmental protection, and energy innovation.
