Chandigarh, July 19-Haryana Environment Forests and Wildlife Minister, Rao Narbir Singh said that all RWAs in Gurugram and nearby districts, along with various social, religious, educational, and other organisations, to actively participate in the “Matri Van” campaign being held on July 27 under the Aravalli Green Wall Project. He shared that on this special occasion, Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs, Sh. Manohar Lal and Union Environment Minister, Sh. Bhupender Yadav will also be present as Chief Guests.
Rao Narbir Singh said that this campaign falls under the Aravalli Green Wall Project, which aims to develop a three-layered green forest zone. The campaign is inspired by Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi’s call for “ Ek ped Maa ke Naam”
As part of this effort, around 20,000 saplings will be planted from Shiv Nadar School to Ghata Chowk on July 27, turning the area into a “Matri Van”.
Matri Van campaign will help boost groundwater levels and promote greenery
He further said that trees play a major role in water conservation, and without them, water cannot be preserved. With the growing pace of urbanisation, it has become crucial to focus on saving water, and everyone must come forward to contribute. In such a situation, this ‘Matri Van’campaign will not only play an important role in increasing the groundwater level, but it will also promote greenery. He appealed to citizens to plant trees wherever possible and take responsibility to protect and care for them.
