Chandigarh: To create awareness on “Rising trends of road accident and trauma services in north India”, a team of doctors from PARK Hospital Mohali addressed the media persons in Chandigarh on Thursday. Dr Bhanu Pratap Singh, Director Orthopedics and Robotic Joint Replacement Surgery and Dr Rohit Jaswal, CEO PARK Hospital Mohal, Dr Anil Sofat, Consultant Neuro Surgery, Dr Ankur Sharma Consultant Plastic Surgery and Dr Ashish Sharma, Consultant GI Surgery from PARK Hospital Mohali were present on the occasion. Dr Bhanu Saluja said that in the last 12 years, there is a drop of 5 per cent in road accidents globally, where as it has increased by 15.3 per cent in India.
Road accidents contribute to 83 per cent of all traffic related deaths in India. People should know the importance of Golden Hour concept, which means first 60 minutes after any accident is the most important if right patient, reaches right place in right time, lot of lives can be saved. He said tghat There is an urgent need to spread awareness of the ‘golden hour’ period, where the first 60 minutes are most important in saving lives after an accident, opined Dr Saluja. On the occasion, a trauma helpline no 7562000000 was launched.
