Chandigarh, February 1 — Haryana Development and Panchayat Minister, Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar welcomed the Union Budget 2026–27 presented by Union Finance Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman in the Lok Sabha on Sunday. He said that the budget is people-centric and visionary, aimed at the upliftment and welfare of every section of society, in line with the spirit of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” and the goal of Viksit Bharat@2047.
Praising the Finance Minister and her team for their dedication and foresight, Sh. Panwar said that key provisions of the Union Budget related to rural empowerment and village self-governance are inspired by the ideals and vision of Mahatma Gandhi.
He said that the ‘Mahatma Gandhi Gram Swaraj Initiative’ announced in the budget will help promote khadi and handicrafts and strengthen industries in villages. It will improve the production of khadi textiles. This initiative will benefit traditional weavers and also create new employment opportunities for the youth, he added.
The Development and Panchayat Minister expressed hope that Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini would give special emphasis to the Development and Panchayat Department while allocating the budget 2026-2027. He said that this department plays a crucial role in strengthening the rural economy, empowering Panchayati Raj institutions, and realising Mahatma Gandhi’s Gram Swaraj vision at the grassroots level.
Sh. Panwar further expressed confidence that the Union Budget 2026–27 will prove beneficial for all sections of society and will accelerate inclusive and sustainable development across the country.
