Chandigarh, May 22 – Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister, Rao Narbir Singh said that this year the monsoon is expected to arrive earlier than usual. Therefore, the officers concerned must complete all preparations in a timely manner. To prevent waterlogging in Gurugram, around 125 main drainage points have been identified, and it is essential to begin cleaning operations around these areas immediately.

Rao Narbir Singh said that he is personally holding regular meetings with officers of GMDA, Municipal Corporation, Revenue and Disaster Management, and the Public Health Engineering Department. A separate task force has also been directed to be formed for this purpose, he said.

Meanwhile, the Minister will visit six sewage treatment plants (STPs) in Gurugram on May 23, 2025. Key locations include, 4.5-km-long STP channel on Kherki Road near Dhankot village, central section of STP channel on Makrodilia Road near Kaliawas village, inspection of the STP pump house near AIIMS Badsa, Mundakhera pump house at Drain No. 8 on Badli–Gurugram Road, STP channel on Sondhi Road near Yakubpur village, and the pumping station-2 of STP channel near MET City.

Chandigarh, May 22 – Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini strongly criticized Punjab Chief Minister, Sh. Bhagwant Mann for his arrogant attitude regarding Haryana’s share of drinking water. He said that politicizing such a sensitive and essential issue reflects poorly on a public leader, especially during a time when serving water is considered an act of virtue across the country.

Citing the teachings of the Gurus and the humanitarian values deeply rooted in our culture, the Chief Minister emphasized that it is unbecoming of the Punjab government to defy judicial decisions on this matter. Punjab must abide by the verdicts of the Supreme Court and High Court and stop obstructing Haryana’s legitimate rights, he said. He appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister to rise above political considerations and fulfill his constitutional responsibility.

The Chief Minister said this during a press conference held at Ramkundi Dharamshala in Ladwa on Thursday.

Responding to a question, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini also shared details about his recent meeting with Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi on the comprehensive development of Haryana.

He said that new opportunities are being created to ensure that development reaches every village and city. Under the Amrit Station Scheme, several railway stations are undergoing significant upgrades, he said.

Taking a dig at the Congress party, the Chief Minister said that people are well aware of the misgovernance in the past, whereas in the last ten years under Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi’s leadership, the country has seen rapid and meaningful progress.

He also spoke about the Tiranga Yatras being carried out across Haryana, from Lok Sabha constituencies to villages, stating that these patriotic campaigns are uniting the nation and honouring our valiant soldiers.

Former Minister of State, Sh. Subhash Sudha, Chairman, Sh. Dharmbir Dagar, Deputy Commissioner, Neha Singh, and other dignitaries were also present at the event.

The Chief Minister was addressing the gathering just before the Operation Sindoor Tiranga Yatra held today in Ladwa city, Kurukshetra district. A large number of youth, women, and senior citizens participated in the Yatra, which was led by the Chief Minister. They contributed enthusiastically to this campaign, organized in honor of the brave soldiers of the nation and those martyred in Operation Sindoor. Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini paid flower tribute to the martyrs of Pahalgam attack at the auditorium of Ramkundi Dharamshala.

 Sh Nayab Singh Saini stated that our brave soldiers struck deep into Pakistani territory and eliminated the terrorists, sending a strong message that any threat to India’s sovereignty will have serious consequences. He emphasized that our brave soldiers successfully identified and destroyed terrorist bases across the border, including 11 Pakistani airbases. He further said that the missile strikes carried out by Indian forces not only impacted Pakistan but also resonated globally, with their echoes reaching as far as China and the United States. When the matter was discussed at the international level, the ceasefire demonstrated that while India is not in favor of war, it will not remain silent if peace is mistaken for weakness.“This blend of valor and restraint is what makes our nation truly great,” he said. Sh Saini added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi, the Indian Army has been significantly empowered, and the nation’s global stature has risen.

Sh Nayab Singh Saini stated that lakhs of soldiers from the state are always ready to serve Mother India. He emphasized that the Tiranga Yatra sends a powerful message to the heroes of the nation that the entire country stands united with them. “This Yatra is dedicated to the families whose sons and daughters have demonstrated through their service that the tricolor is not just a flag, it is our soul, our identity,” he said. He further added, “Patriotism is present in every particle of Haryana’s soil.”

Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini commenced the Operation Sindoor Tiranga Yatra from the Bus Stand in Ladwa. After passing through the main market, the Yatra reached Madanlal Dhingra Chowk, where the Chief Minister garlanded the statue of the martyr Madanlal Dhingra and paid his respects. Following this, the Tiranga Yatra after passing through Ladwa-Indri Road, Hinori Chowk, and Indri Chowk concluded at Ramkundi.  

On this occasion, former Minister of State Sh Subhash Sudha, Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh, and other dignitaries were present.

Chandigarh, May 22 – Irrigation and Water Resources Minister, Smt. Shruti Choudhry said that a technical committee meeting of Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) was held on May 15, in which 10,300 cusecs of water were allocated to Haryana. The state of Haryana submitted a demand letter on May 19 to the Executive Engineer of BML Patiala, requesting the release of the allocated water at the Haryana contact points, 3,600 cusecs at RD 160000’ of Narwana Branch and 6,700 cusecs at RD 390000’ of BML. The next day, the Executive Engineer of BML Patiala forwarded the demand letter to BBMB. On May 21, BBMB began increasing water flow in the Nangal Hydel Channel from Lohand at 1:35 PM, as per the operations manual.

The Minister further informed that out of the 10,300 cusecs reaching Haryana’s contact point, 3,600 cusecs would be released into the Narwana Branch, which would fulfil the needs of Jind, Bhiwani, Rohtak, Jhajjar, and southern districts of Haryana through the WJC system.

The remaining 6,700 cusecs received at RD 390000’ of BML will be supplied to meet the demands of Hisar, Sirsa, and Fatehabad districts through the Barwala Link Channel and the tail end of the BML group, she informed.

Smt. Shruti Choudhry said that after the water reaches the state, there will be no shortage of water from Friday onward, and the needs for both drinking water and irrigation will be met. She also accused the Punjab Chief Minister of politicizing the water issue, stating that Haryana also has historical records of water allocations from BBMB and urged Punjab not to deny Haryana its rightful share.

The Minister praised the central government’s decision to hand over dam security to the CISF, calling it a positive step.

Chandigarh, May 22: Haryana Police has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the protection of human rights and citizen safety, securing a model position across the nation. The sensitivity of the state police in handling cases of missing children and individuals is evident from the fact that FIR is being registered in 100 percent of the complaints, a unique and commendable practice of Haryana Police. As a result, nearly 80 percent of missing persons were successfully brought back home. Not just within the state, the Haryana Police is also reuniting people who went missing in neighbouring states and even countries like Nepal, with their families. In several cases, the missing individuals were speech and hearing-impaired or even mentally challenged. Solving such cases posed additional challenges, yet Haryana Police succeeded in resolving them using a combination of technology and skill.

Effective action by Haryana Police in crimes against women and children: Over 90 percent recovery rate for two consecutive years

During the years 2023 and 2024, Haryana Police demonstrated excellent and sensitive policing in handling serious crimes such as kidnapping and offences against women and children. In 2023, under IPC Sections 363, 366, and 366A, the recovery rate was 93.11percent, 95.83percent, and 92.08 percent respectively. In 2024, the figures remained consistently high — 88.89 percey (363 IPC), 90.45 percent (366 IPC), and 89.30 percent (366A IPC). This success reflects the dedication of Haryana Police field teams, use of technical tools, and a victim-centric approach. Even in IPC Section 346, which includes large volumes of missing persons cases, the police ensured successful recovery in 87.17 percent (2023) and 84.75 percent (2024) of the cases, highlighting excellent performance despite high caseloads.

Haryana Police’s mission-mode investigation system sets new standards of effectiveness

Additionally, a large number of false, civil nature, or fact/law error-based cases were closed after thorough investigation, reducing the burden on the judiciary and enabling focused action on genuine offences. There has been continuous improvement in the rate of charge-sheet filing, a low number of untraced and absconding cases, and minimal under-trial pendency. This proves that Haryana Police’s investigation system has been effective, timely, and result-oriented. Working in a mission mode, Haryana Police has ensured the prevention of crimes against women and children, safe return of victims, and strong legal action against offenders, thereby further strengthening the law-and-order framework in the state.

Remarkable action by Haryana Police in the first quarter of 2025 – 78 percent of missing persons reunited; sensitivity and efficiency shown in crimes against women and children

Similarly, during the period from January 1 to March 31, 2025, Haryana Police has performed commendably in cases related to missing persons. Out of 4,361 total cases, 3,406 missing persons were successfully traced and reunited with their families, yielding an overall recovery rate of 78.1 percent. Specifically, under IPC Sections 363, 366, and 366A, recovery rates stood at 79.73 percent, 78.98 percent, and 73.38 percent respectively, highlighting the police’s sensitivity and proactive approach in safeguarding women and children. Under a well-thought-out investigation of the cases, 3,361 cases (77.15percent) were legally closed, significantly easing pressure on the judicial system. This performance is a strong testament to the police’s mission-mode operations, vigilance, and victim-focused strategy.

Every missing person’s return is a step towards restoring a family’s completeness – DGP calls humane policing by Haryana Police a national model

Expressing his views on this achievement, the Director General of Police, Haryana, Sh. Shatrujeet Kapur, stated that the safe return of a missing child is not merely the closing of a case file, it is the restoration of a family’s sense of wholeness. The Anti-Human Trafficking Units (AHTUs) of the state police are symbols of the humane side of policing, extending beyond legal mandates to serve as pillars of hope for the most vulnerable sections of society. Haryana Police’s work in this direction is now emerging as a replicable model for other states as well. It is not only a success in terms of law enforcement but also a profound example of social reintegration. Through this process of reunification, Haryana Police has proven that with determination and strategic action, every missing person can be brought home.

Haryana Police sets a benchmark in humanitarian service — reunites 44 people missing for over 20 years with their families

The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Haryana Police has recorded historic success over the past 18 months in reuniting long-missing individuals with their families. The unit successfully located and reunited 44 adults and children who had been missing for over 20 years, marking one of the most significant accomplishments in this category to date. In addition, 22 persons missing for over 16 years, 47 missing for over 11 years, and 54 individuals missing for more than 6 years were also successfully reunited with their long-lost families. These cases were highly complex and challenging — involving decades-old disappearances, vague identities, minimal documentation, and changing geographies. Nevertheless, AHTU’s sensitivity, technical capability, and relentless efforts made these humanitarian reunions possible. This achievement is a strong reflection of Haryana Police’s committed work ethic and deep sense of responsibility toward society.

SAS Nagar, May 22, 2025:
Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal today visited the Sector 91 Legacy Waste Dump and the Jagatpura Waste Processing Plant to assess the progress of waste management initiatives undertaken by the Municipal Corporation Mohali.

Divulging the details, DC Mittal informed that the legacy dump at Sector 91 contains approximately 90,000 metric tonnes (MT) of waste, which is expected to be cleared within four months. Four trommel machines currently operating at the site are processing around 500 MT of waste daily. The inert waste generated from now will be handed over to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for use in landfilling, as per a formal agreement.

Highlighting the importance of responsible waste disposal, the Deputy Commissioner urged all Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), bulk waste generators, and citizens to ensure strict segregation of wet and dry waste at the source.
“Effective waste segregation is the cornerstone of a clean and sustainable city. Only through collective efforts by residents, officials, and sanitation workers, we can transform Mohali into a model city for cleanliness and efficient waste management,” she said.

DC Mittal directed Municipal Corporation officials to ensure that waste collected from households is properly segregated before being brought to the Resource Management Centres (RMCs). She stated that this would greatly improve the efficiency of waste processing and reduce the load on the RMCs.

At the Jagatpura Waste Processing Plant, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the treatment procedures and interacted with the contractor and municipal staff. Expressing satisfaction with the ongoing improvements, she reiterated the administration’s dedication to building a cleaner and greener Mohali.

Municipal officials briefed the DC on current waste management practices. They informed her that, apart from the Shahi Majra RMC, waste collected through other RMCs is transported to the Ambala facility by the Contractor. Shahi Majra and Jagatpura plants, managed by the same contractor, will soon handle the entire 100 MT of daily fresh waste generated in the city.

The Deputy Commissioner also emphasized the need for optimal utilization of bailing machinery available with the Municipal Corporation to manage waste more effectively at RMCs. Officials reported that only four of out of the total 14 bailing machines are currently out of use, but installation of these four at key locations is expected to be completed by next week.

Present during the inspection were ADC (Urban Development) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, Chief Engineer MC Mohali Naresh Batta, Assistant Commissioner Ranjeev Kumar, and officials from the engineering wing.
